Every day the number of families adopting a pet grows. And no less! Pets bring joy, keep company and are adorable little creatures. However, it is worth remembering that responsible animal ownership comes with several responsibilities.
Taking care of a pet is a commitment for the animal’s entire life. The guardian has the role of ensuring their well-being and safety.
Here we have separated the main tips for caring for your pet:
1. Quality food
Providing quality food in accordance with the pet’s needs is the guardian’s role. Most domestic animals have food as their main food, which must be balanced and contain all the necessary nutritional value. In the case of pets that have a diet based on natural foods, it is up to the owner to ensure the correct quality and quantity.

In all cases, the recommendation must be made by a veterinarian, who will indicate, depending on the animal’s organism, which food should be offered and in what quantities.
2. Parasite control
The first check when your pet is a puppy is to check which vaccines are required, this way you will protect him from numerous diseases. In addition to this prevention, it is necessary to prevent parasite infestations, such as in dogs and cats, the dose of flea medication needs to be updated according to the medication leaflet.
For other pets, such as hamsters, vaccines and medication for fleas and ticks are not necessary, but other care is mandatory to keep them healthy.
For vaccination and medication indication, you must receive guidance from a veterinarian, all prescriptions will be based on your pet’s characteristics, giving it a better quality of life.
3. Tours and environmental enrichment
Dogs need regular walks, this activity develops and exercises not only the animal’s physical but also the cognitive. Not all pets need outdoor walks, cats, rodents and fish, for example, exercise indoors.

In both cases, enriching the environment with toys and items that entertain your pet is very important. Separating a place in the house for the pet, placing its food bowl, water fountain, bathroom, bed, toys and everything else makes it feel welcomed and comfortable. This family environment, full of items that the pet likes, provides constant and healthy development.
4. Hygiene routine
Each pet requires a different hygiene routine, including bathing, brushing, organizing the cage, litter box, cleaning the bathroom and several other actions that preserve the pet’s well-being.
The period for each activity is defined by the animal’s needs, some of them will be daily and others with greater spacing. It is up to the owner to find out about the pet’s characteristics and, of course, follow the instructions given by the veterinarian.
5. Vet Visits
This is one of the most important items, medical monitoring is essential to keep your pet healthy and provide a better quality of life.
Visits are more constant when the pet is a puppy and when it is reaching old age, but the owner must be attentive and plan an annual checkup.
6. Affection and love
It’s a fact that we fall in love with our pets right away and keeping them always full of love and affection is also beneficial for their health and ours!

Pets bring many new things and challenges to the owner’s life, they bring learning and give new meaning to many things, demonstrations of affection reinforce the bond between the pet and the owner.
