One of the confirmed BBB 22 participants is sprinter Paulo André, 23 years old, who will be part of the cabin group.
The Big Brother Brasil edition will feature 20 participants, divided between two groups, 10 in the box and 10 in the popcorn. Furthermore, on January 14th the official list of BBB participants was released. Among them is the 23-year-old Olympic athlete Paulo André, who is part of the cabin group.
Furthermore, this year’s edition of the program brings new features, with Tadeu Schmidt as the new presenter. Furthermore, Dani Calabresa will replace Rafael Portugal in “CAT BBB” and Paulo Vieira will debut the show “Big Terapia”. Finally, Ana Clara and Bruno de Luca will lead the program “BBB- A Elimination”, shown on Multishow. However, the program promises many other new features in this edition.
Finally, athlete Paulo André claims to be used to living under pressure. Therefore, he agreed to participate in the reality show, as it is a way to challenge himself even more. Who is Paulo André?
Paulo André Camilo de Oliveira was born in Santo André, ABC Paulista on August 20, 1998. But, he grew up in the city of Vila Velha, in Espírito Santo. In short, as a child he had the dream of being a football player and defending his favorite team, Flamengo.
Furthermore, due to his speed on the field he earned the nickname McLaren, an allusion to the Formula 1 car manufacturer. Currently, at 1.82 meters tall, his great passion is athletics. After all, Paulo André is the son of former sprinter Carlos José Camilo de Oliveira, who represented Brazil in several competitions in the 80s, and was even called up for the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984. However, he was cut due to an injury.
Anyway, Paulo André was attracted to speed, he was one of the fastest on the football field. Then, his father noticed his talent and encouraged him to run in a student athletics competition. PA had a much better result than other teenagers who were already training in the sport. This ended up motivating him to follow his family vocation on the track and having his father as his coach.
“I always really liked sports. As a child, I surfed, did karate, swimming. But my characteristic was always speed and, like every boy, I wanted to play ball. My father encouraged me, and I went deeper into his trajectory in athletics, I wanted to continue and it worked”, recalls the BBB 22 participant.
Furthermore, the athlete really likes pagode and samba, and even plays the cavaquinho, guitar and drums. And he often poses as a model for the clothing brands that sponsor him. Furthermore, the athlete is a 3rd sergeant in the Brazilian Navy and is part of the Armed Forces’ sports incentive program.
Professional life
Paulo André began his athletics career in a social project called Champions of the Future, which helps children get started in sports. In fact, the athlete is currently leading this project.
In short, until 2015, PA used to train on a dirt track. At that time, he set the South American under-18 record in the 100 meter dash with 10.30 seconds. From then on, his career took off and he became one of the fastest men in Brazilian history.
In 2018, he ran the 100 m dash in 10.02 seconds, becoming the second fastest man, where he approached Robson Caetano’s South American record of 10 seconds.
In 2019, he won leading the champion quartet in the World Relay in the 4×100 m. In the same year, the athlete won the 100 m dash at the Brazil Trophy and almost managed to break the 10s barrier, when he clocked 9.90. But, due to the wind above the permitted level, the new record was not validated. Furthermore, he won a silver medal in the 100 m at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima.
Therefore, currently Paulo André is the third fastest man in the history of Brazil. Since he was overtaken by Erik Felipe who reached the mark of 10s01. In total, the athlete has more than eight gold medals.
Finally, in 2021 the athlete participated in the Tokyo Olympics, being the only Brazilian to go to the 100m semifinals. However, his result was not very good, placing eighth in his series and 23rd among the 24 participants in the race.

Paulo André attributes his negative result at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics to the fact that his father and coach were not present during the competition. Because, even though he was his coach, he was not called up to join the Brazilian delegation in Japan.
“It’s my first Olympics, I still have something to analyze. Obviously there was a mistake on my part, yes. But the fact that my coach is not with me could influence a lot of things. During the warm-up, I saw all my opponents with the coaches on their sides. I was the only one who didn’t have someone by my side. The Olympics does not allow this. You have to have a coach there, to be with you”, lamented the athlete.
Personal life
Paulo André is a person who always has a wide smile on his face. And shortly after the Tokyo Olympics, the athlete gained a special reason to smile, when he became a father in September.
In short, his son with his ex-girlfriend Thays Andreata, is also called Paulo André and spent 21 days in the hospital when he was born. But he was fine and today, at four months old, he will be rooting for his daddy on BBB.
“You arrived fighting, fighting, doing justice to the meaning of your name, to what you are, and you proved yourself! They were difficult days, even though we knew from the beginning that you would be 200% fine, being sure that God, the doctor of doctors, was in control and taking care of everything, receiving you in this way was not easy at all”, wrote the athlete.
And he added:
“I wanted to be a father early, to see my son cheering for me from the stands. It’s an incredible experience! I just want to learn from him, grow, mature and be able to give my best”, says the athlete.
Furthermore, the athlete is currently single and promises to have a lot of fun at the BBB parties. But without losing focus on the game, of course.
“I’m driven by challenges, new experiences. It’s a competition and I’m very competitive, I like to play. I deserve to win the BBB because I was born to win” says Paulo André.
Furthermore, the athlete showed that he is more than prepared to participate in the endurance tests and parties on the reality show. In fact, in December, PA was invited to Farofa da Gkay, a party that lasted three days in Fortaleza, Ceará, where several famous people participated.
Controversies
As soon as Paulo André began to be speculated as one of the possible candidates to participate in BBB, he deleted some controversial tweets. Likewise, they began a search for the athlete’s history, which until then was not well known in the media.
Anyway, even with the tweets deleted, prints appeared with statements from Paulo André. For example:
“Piranha makes moments, women make history”, said the athlete, in April 2016.
Furthermore, two months earlier, he published the term “Faggot”. Later, in 2018 when Ariana Grande performed in Brazil, he needled the singer’s fans:
“I passed by today, a bum camping in line.”
He also tweeted political opinions when the current President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro (no party) was elected.
“F*ck, morally speaking, PT again wouldn’t work”, wrote the athlete.

As a participant in BBB , Paulo André states that he already has a well-defined strategy:
“Playing the game I think I can do it, but playing with people will be my main challenge”, he assesses.
Ultimately, for the athlete, Big Brother Brasil will be an opportunity to challenge themselves and go beyond sport. Since he is interested in the artistic universe and sees participating in the reality show as a way to make this dream come true.
