Forbes magazine released its annual list of the most powerful women of the year. Check out which names made a difference in the world this year.

Forbes magazine recently released its long-awaited list of most powerful women in the world. In the top 3 of the magazine’s 19th annual list we have Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission in first place, then Christine Lagarde, president of the European Central Bank and in third place the vice-president of the USA. Kamala Harris.

The Forbes list of the Most Powerful Women in the World chose 100 names that stood out this year. In fact, women’s choice is made based on four main factors: money, media, impact and influence. Therefore, the result is a selection of women, who, according to the magazine, fight against rules and standards.

This year’s list did not have any Brazilians. But check out 20 important Brazilian women in the country’s history.

Who are the most powerful women?

So let’s go, find out which women were elected the most powerful this year.

1. Ursula von der Leyen

At the top of the list, the president of the European Commission. After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Ursula launched three economic sanctions against Putin’s country. These include banning transactions with the central bank, as well as closing airspace to Russian travel and banning Kremlin news agencies.

2. Christine Lagarde

Christine was the first woman to head the European Central Bank. And just like the first place on the List, she also had great influence balancing the continued support for Ukraine. Additionally, Christine Lagarde also helped reduce inflation and energy costs.

3. Kamala Harris

Last year, Kamala Harris became the first woman, first black woman and first South Asian American to become vice president of the world’s greatest power.

4. Mary Barra

Mary Barra is the CEO of General Motor, and the first woman to head one of the three largest automakers in the United States.. In fact, under his leadership, the company achieved constant increases in gender equity reports.

5. Abigail Johnson

She has been CEO of Fidelity Investments since 2014, the year she took over from her father and has been president since 2016. Therefore, Abigail Johnson has around a 24.5% stake in the company, and has around US$3.7 in assets under management.

6. Melinda Gates

Melinda Gates is just one of the most powerful women in terms of philanthropy in the world. That’s because she is co-president of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Therefore, she dedicated much of her work to meeting the rights of women and girls.

7. Giorgia Meloni

In October of that year, Giorgia Meloni became Prime Minister of Italy, and also the first woman in the country’s history to hold such a position. And more than that, she still represents female leadership as the only woman to lead a G20 nation.

8. Karen Lynch

Karen is the CEO of CVS Health, a healthcare services company. In fact, this company runs the largest concentration of independently administered Covid testing sites in the United States, and Karen was responsible for CVS’ pandemic response command in 2020.

9. Julie Sweet

Julie Sweet has been CEO of Accenture, a global services company since 2019. As such, she makes diversity her priority. In an interview with Forbes she said the following: “A culture of equality helps everyone. It’s not a zero-sum game.”

10. Jane Fraser

Closing the top 10 of the most powerful women in the world, we have the CEO of Citigroup, Jane Fraser. She became the first woman to reach this position, as well as being the first woman to manage a major Wall Street bank.
