1 – Decoration– seasonal flowers reduce up to 30% of the value invested in decoration. There’s no point getting married in the summer and wanting tulips, which are typical of winter, and there’s no need to decorate every pew in the church. Arrange the ones in one row and skip the next two. Another trick (almost imperceptible), instead of just flowers, centerpiece arrangements can contain foliage. Saves money without compromising volume. Tropical flowers such as heliconia, alpinia and emperor’s baton are cheaper, and with a stem (3 reais) and a large bunch of myrtle (5 reais), you can create an arrangement. Other options are Adam’s rib and dracaena. The dry trees, although beautiful, each unit costs at least 150 reais to rent. If you want roses, choose national ones with a medium handle. Directly from the supplier, you can buy five dozen for 25 reais. A package of twenty Colombian rose buds costs at least 30 reais. And it’s worth mentioning that January, February and July are good for haggling, because fewer people book events in these months.
2 – Drink– don’t be afraid to opt for the national drink, the top-of-the-line brand produced in Brazil is sold for 13 reais to suppliers. The imported one doesn’t cost less than 40 reais. As for champagne, Dom Pérignon (560 reais per bottle), Veuve Clicquot and Möet & Chandon (between 150 and 200 reais), but remember that using only imported drinks makes the party budget at least 20% more expensive. There are good alternatives among national sparkling wines. A bottle of Chandon costs 40 reais, a bottle of Salton, 25 and a third option would be Italian proseccos, which cost from 35 reais. However, not everyone wants to give up champagne. In this case, you can invest in drinks that contain the drink, such as kir royal and bellini. Hence, only serve it pure when cutting the cake.
3 – Car– don’t even think about renting an old vehicle or limousine, it’s more worth borrowing a nice car and hiring a driver (savings of at least 700 reais).
4 – Which– do not need to rent sound and microphones, a beautiful acoustic choir will do the job, as churches are generally designed so that sound propagates easily.
5 – Space – renting an existing space is a good option, you will spend 20,000 reais to rent a buffet, and know that getting married on the beach or in the countryside adds a lot to the budget, as all the labor that moves outside city charges double. And you will have to pay for the team’s accommodation. Take advantage of the furniture in the rented space, already included in the price paid for the room. Cheapest buffet option: finger food. The starters are arranged on tasting islands where there are appetizers and canapés. For dinner, small portions of just two dishes, such as pasta and risotto, served by waiters. To finish, two types of dessert. In this system you spend 25% less than in the traditional buffet. It’s economical without being chic. It is possible to forego the sweets table, opt for mini options of creme brûlé, petit gâteau and profiteroles.
8 – It was– the personalized cake brides are cute, but they cost 300 reais, but if you look for a ready-made cake in stores, similar to yours, you can pay 50 reais. For the cake to appear in the photos, rent a set design, there are models for 300 reais, but when it comes to serving the treat, you can opt for a simpler one, which is already cut from the kitchen. Swap the fondant icing on the cake for ganache or meringue, which are tastier and more economical. Brigadeiro and dulce de leche fillings cost between 15% and 30% less than apricot, walnut and pistachio fillings.
9 – Music– live can cost twice as much as hiring a DJ. To liven up the party even more with the DJ, you can provide fun accessories for the guests with the money you saved. It is not necessary to spend a lot on items such as: giant glasses, Carnival masks, top hats, comical ties, feathers. Your guests will certainly have fun and your party will be unforgettable.
10 – Last but not least: requiring all quotes in writing can save money and headaches. “Read every letter of the contracts to avoid unpleasant surprises later”, advises Vera Simão.
