The Japanese capital impresses with the number and quality of luxury hotels. I’ve been to the Japan and one of my favorites is Mandarin Oriental Tokyo. I stayed there in 2013 and was really impressed! With the lobby on the 35th floor, it is known for its impressive views, exceptional service, and excellent cuisine. There are 179 rooms, and 12 bars and restaurants, three of which are starred. Furthermore, the spa is another highlight. Award-winning, it offers an infinite variety of treatments and a true aquatic oasis. I had an unforgettable experience there! So, today we are going to visit the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo spa and remember this magnificent hotel a little.

Certainly a unique Spa!

The spa at Mandarin Oriental Tokyo

Upon arriving at the spa of one of the best hotels in the Japanese capital, we begin to feel like we are in another dimension. The ambient music, the aromas, the decoration and the calm and politeness of the attendants already make the customer go into “zen” mode. Then the view impresses! At the 37th floor, we have Tokyo at our feet, through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows.

And incredible view!

My experience

I was taken to a huge treatment room, complete with a hot tub and everything. The service began with the foot ritual, which symbolizes the washing away of the outside world. After washing my feet in hot water with floral touches and drinking some tea, my relaxing massage began.

How about my view?

Despite being small and delicate, the professional had very steady hands and I had an unforgettable treatment. I think it’s always worth it, when traveling, to stop and take care of yourself a little. The life of a traveler is so busy, sleepless nights on planes, the effects of jet lag and always rushing back and forth to make the most of your time. Therefore, whenever I can, I get a massage and leave feeling refreshed.

My room details

This time, it was even more impactful. In addition to rigorously well-prepared professionals, the spa facilities at Mandarin Oriental Tokyo are literally a luxury. Seeing the night fall while doing shiatsu was remarkable!

The treatments

The treatment menu also offers facial massages and scrubs. However, the Most popular is the Ritual of Time, which allows you to book a period of time rather than specific services, allowing the Tokyo retreat to tailor treatments to your needs.

The water lounge

After the massage, I also took advantage of the hydro massage pools, with water jets, which were extremely relaxing. Having the chance to stay underwater admiring the mesmerizing views of one of the largest metropolises in the world is ecstatic! There are also dry and steam saunas for those who are fans. Therefore, it is well worth arriving at least half an hour early and taking advantage of the excellent facilities at the award-winning spa. Remembering that men and women are in separate parts of the spa.

The dinner

And since I was in one of the best hotels in the Japanese capital, I decided to stay for dinner. I had dinner at the French restaurant, Signature, with one Michelin star and had a remarkable meal! The chef Luke Armstrong does a thorough job and uses the best ingredients, most of which are from Japan.

Furthermore, the atmosphere is sophisticated and elegant!

I chose a six-course menu and left feeling light and satisfied, as the size of the dishes was ideal. In fact, I remember well the tomato tartare with salmon roe in a very delicate presentation. Next, delicious scallops and for main, I went with Japanese steak – super tender, with vegetables. Of course, the authentic French patisserie couldn’t be missing, in a chocolate tart with red fruits. The service was impeccable throughout the night. And I believe that because I was alone, I was even more spoiled, which I thought was a unique kindness. I loved meeting you sous chef Nicolas Bouejema, who in addition to being a great player, is a friend!
