Quinta do Bucanero, charming hotel in the South

News

O Quinta do Bucanero, charming hotel in the South, It’s a very special place, very romantic and an hour and a half from Floripa.

Opened in 1995, its view is jaw-dropping and mixes the green of the Atlantic Forest with the Santa Catarina sea. Part of the Charm Itinerary, the hotel It is stunning and very exclusive. There are just ten apartments and two suites.

It is in front of Praia do Rosa. You have to take a boat and cross the lagoon to get to the beach.

The route starts with a path through the woods until you reach the boat, which makes the place even more special. Just let the reception know that we will need to leave and the boatman will be there ready to welcome us. When we want to leave the beach, we make an appointment or call the hotel to let them know. The scheme works really well!

If you want, you can also take a trail that leads to the beach. The landscape of the lagoon with the sea behind gives the place a very exotic atmosphere.

Praia do Rosa is very long, great for walking and with big waves, a delight for surfers.

When I was there, you could enter the water without any problems and I thought the beach was stunning, with a mix of sea and mountain. It is also known for the whales that usually appear there during the winter.

There are some restaurants by the sea where we can stop for a drink and/or something to eat. But don’t expect too much. They are simple places and the food is nothing special. A draft beer, a caipirinha and a shrimp pastry are enough to spend.

Gastronomy

The hotel’s cuisine is to be congratulated! The menu features Brazilian dishes with a contemporary touch, focusing on seafood, of course. Everything I ate was very tasty, like the shrimp risotto, the whiting with Bergamoto, the cod cake, and so on.

Lunch with a view

The breakfast is very plentiful, buffet style and with the option of some à la carte dishes. Highlights include authentic French cheeses made in a local artisanal factory. To eat while praying!

Meals are served in a single restaurant, which offers views of the sea during the day. At night, we see the hotel pool lit up – a charm in itself.

The bar next to the restaurant is very cozy and adds an extra charm to the atmosphere.

If you want a change at dinner time, you can walk to the center – 10 minutes – and there are several options: Asian Tiger and Lua Marinha are two of the most famous. But they don’t compare to gastronomy do Buccaneer. The neighboring hotel, Sol Mirador, also has a good restaurant, Urucum.

If you want more tips, you can ask the hotel staff, who are always very helpful and have suggestions at their fingertips.

The beaches

The same goes for those who want to visit other beaches in the region. As a trip, it’s worth stopping by Garopaba, a city famous for its Carnival for decades. If you don’t have a car, a taxi recommended by the hotel will take you for R$80 round trip.

The main beach of Garopaba is not as close as Praia do Rosa, but there is Prainha, hidden, after a little climb, where the Church is located. A simply paradisiacal place! The path is worth the view of Garopaba Beach, quite a cove!

But the best thing is to be back in hotel and spend hours there, on the inn’s deck, having a beer or a glass of white wine, enjoying the landscape and forgetting about life.

After all, that’s exactly what we expect when we spend the weekend in a place like this, peaceful, exclusive and by the sea.

Ambience and decoration

In fact, as soon as we are received at the hotel, we understand that the motto there is to relax! The environment is well suited for couples and children under 14 are not allowed (Which makes perfect sense because there are several stairs and bridges and the path to the beach would be dangerous for little ones).

The decoration of the hotel It is extremely tasteful and completely matches the place. Lots of wood, colorful paintings and decorative pieces created especially for the inn.

I tried two types of rooms: the apartment, which is not very big but has a very nice balcony and a panoramic view of the beach. It is equipped with plasma TV, coffee maker, minibar, etc.

Casa Mar, one of the suites, is one of those places that when you enter you want to live there. An extremely tasteful decoration, with the white color contrasting with the wood. On the wall, beautiful beach photos. The balcony is very spacious, with two sun loungers and an outdoor hydromassage pool.

A comfortable living room with a sofa, straw chair, plasma TV and ceiling fans – as well as air conditioning, of course – complete the space.

A white wooden door – which can be left completely open – separates the two spaces, living room and bedroom. The four-poster bed has pure cotton sheets and hand-embroidered pillows.

In addition to the minibar, the suite has a small wine cellar, which I found very nice. In fact, there are also rooms, but smaller. The bathroom is spacious and has enough privacy for two people.

For those who like to sleep in the pitch black like me, I recommend taking a mask, as it gets a little light in the morning, despite the curtains. On the other hand, whoever manages to wake up early, it is essential to record the sunrise, coming out of the water, fantastic!

The swimming pool hotel It has a beautiful curved design. The contrast of the two shades of blue – hers and the sea – with the green of the trees forms one of the most stunning corners of the hotel.

Next to the main house there is an annex, which has a hydromassage pool and gym. It’s a delight to relax there after a day at the beach.

Sustainability

In addition to offering all this luxury accommodation but without waste, the Quinta do Bucanero is totally committed to the environment. Of the 17 thousand m² that make up the inn, less than 10% is dedicated to the built area.

To support environmental projects that benefit Praia do Rosa, guests are invited to participate in the Tourism Contribution, worth R$3.00 per night. It is worth remembering that for those who do not arrive by car, the hotel offers transfers to and from the airport. It is located in the municipality of Quinta do Bucanero, in Imbituba.

And the good news is that it is easy to access, and close to cities like Rio and São Paulo. None of those hotels that take us a century to get to. So, if your idea is a romantic trip, to disconnect from everyday problems, go to the beach, eat well and relax, don’t think twice. O Quinta do Bucanero meets all these requirements and more.
