Mango Danoninho – Panelaterapia

Mango Danoninho

Sauces and Salads

As promised, I will post some recipes that I make for Lis and she loves them. Starting with the mango and yam “danoninho”. It can be offered to the baby as soon as the pediatrician authorizes the introduction of food, which here was at 6 months. And as yams are a great food, this danoninho can be consumed by adults too.

The yam has a very neutral flavor, so it’s like it “dilutes” the flavor of the mango. It is soft, which is suitable for the baby’s palate, who is beginning to discover flavors. For adults it can be sweetened.

I used practically the same amount of mango and yam. One large mango and two small yams.

Cook the peeled and chopped yam, preferably in steam to ensure nutritional properties. Blend the yam while still hot with the mango using a mixer, processor or blender.

It has the consistency of mousse. I serve a portion cold the day I make it and freeze the rest. Nutritionally, it is better to freeze than to leave for 2 or 3 days in the refrigerator.

To defrost, leave it in the fridge for about 6 hours and you can now serve it. Lis even eats half frozen as ice cream. I don’t know exactly how long it lasts frozen, but I don’t leave it here for more than 1 month as a precaution.

You can swap the mango for any fruit. There’s no need to sweeten it, babies don’t have a taste buds addicted to sugar and salt like us.
