Trick to save rice porridge

Did the rice get soggy? Don’t worry, your papa rice can still be saved with this trick below:

1st Step

Did you notice that the rice got soggy? The first thing you should do is turn off the heat. This way you cut off the heat source and stop cooking.

So, after turning off the heat, make sure the water has not completely dried yet. If so, even better, you will drain all the water in order to make the rice as dry as possible.

2nd Step

Once this is done, you will take your rice out of the hot pan and place it in another, cold container. Therefore, stopping the heat completely will stop the cooking before it is too late.

Take a medium or large sieve and place the rice in it and wash it well with cold mineral water. While doing this, shake the rice to make it loosen. This way, the water will remove the starch from the rice (you can use rice water on your hair), which is what gives it the soggy consistency and the movements will loosen the stuck grains.

3rd Step

You will transfer your rice to a third pan, and now you will do the last step of the process. You probably won’t want to eat the rice cold, so it’s time to heat it up again.

To do this, heat another pan or frying pan well with a little olive oil and add the “washed” rice and stir with a wooden spoon. Finally, if you want to upgrade your rice porridge, you can add a few pieces of bacon, carrots or other crunchy ingredients to spice up your dish.

Anyway, this trick is really for when you make a mistake when preparing the rice. So, to prevent this from happening, check out 5 tips on how to make rice and never make mistakes or if you prefer, you can make rice in the microwave in just a few minutes.
