On my last trip to Spain, I stayed at the charming Cotton House: a boutique hotel in Barcelona. Part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, it is a very well located five-star design hotel. It is in a 19th century building, where a cotton factory operated, hence the name. Certainly a property with a lot of style!

The Cotton House has a sublime address! It is five minutes from Paseo de Gracia, one of the city’s main avenues. You can walk to Casa Batlló and Casa Pedrera, by Gaudí, go shopping and go to excellent bars and restaurants. The excellent El Nacional gastronomic space is also a few blocks away. The Gothic neighborhood and Las Ramblas, 5 to 10 minutes walking.

History
Commissioned by a family from the Catalan upper bourgeoisie at the height of the textile industry, the building was sold in the mid-20th century to Cotton Association, which established its headquarters. The idea was to create an authentic Cotton House.

The original elements of the building have been preserved, such as the imposing marble staircase, the delicate checkered floor and the wooden ornaments that decorate the ceilings, floors and walls of some of the rooms.

Also the famous spiral staircase built in 1957. It is suspended by the metal structure of the highest floor of the building, which gives it a light and airy appearance. Certainly photogenic!

The rooms
The hotel has 83 rooms, among which 5 are spacious suites. Despite not being large, the rooms are cozy and harmonious. A decoration is inspired by cotton through the chromatic play between black and white. Furthermore, everything it evokes was thought of: softness, comfort, delicacy and naturalness. Thus, the bed is extremely comfortable, the sheets are made of 300 thread count Egyptian cotton and 600g towels. Honeycomb bathrobes and slippers and cosmetics from the prestigious Ortigia. They are made 100% with natural products from the Mediterranean area.
The restaurant
One of the highlights of Cotton House, the hotel boutique in Barcelona is the restaurant. Called Batuar, it offers uninterrupted service, from breakfast, from 7am until midnight.

I loved staying at Cotton House. A charming property, with lots of style, in the best location in Barcelona. I could walk out every day for dinner; a luxury for a tourist in a big city.
