I’m one of those people who thinks that everything that has grated parmesan and goes in the oven to brown is better. Broccoli, cauliflower, white sauce, parmesan and oven, this is the summary of one of the side dish recipes that I love most!
Start by cooking some broccoli and cauliflower florets. The quantity doesn’t matter because the process is the same. Don’t let it overcook because it will still go in the oven.
Drain and place in an oven-safe container greased with butter. Sprinkle a little salt and pepper over the vegetables.
Cover with white sauce (my recipe is this here), sprinkle with grated parmesan and place in the oven to brown.
You can achieve this gratin effect using the oven grill. If your oven doesn’t have one, the cheese may just melt, but it’s also good!
