White coating: how to use it to make the room elegant

House and garden

Did you know that the color of a room is super important in influencing the look of that space? To do this, it is possible to use resources in the decoration, such as coating, for example. Furthermore, within the huge palette of colors that exist, white coating is trending.

After all, it offers sophistication, practicality and modernity in environments, especially because it is related to good feelings such as tranquility, lightness and peace.

In interior architecture, white is associated with the contemporary and minimalist style, which makes the environment more “clean”. However, even though it is such a versatile and practical color, there are still many doubts about how to use it correctly in decoration.

“Some people consider white to be boring. But the question is knowing how to create the composition. The market offers an infinite number of textures and variations in tones and formats that allow us to go beyond the traditional. Furthermore, we can opt for finishes with white or more contrasting grout to achieve a bolder result. And it’s a fact: white is one of the easiest colors to combine”, explains architect Júlia Guadiz, owner of Studio Guadix.

What are the advantages of using white siding?

The white coating offers much more than a feeling of lightness to an environment. For example, it is capable of enhancing ambient lighting, as it reflects lighting, whether artificial or natural.

As a result, the room becomes brighter, which promotes well-being.

Another important advantage is the feeling of spaciousness that this color offers. This is because the brighter an environment is, the larger it appears.

“We cannot forget that, often, the price is also decisive in the project. Generally, white coverings are more affordable and, when the budget is tight, we can take advantage of white coverings to save money”, says Júlia.

Where to use white coating?

According to the architect, white cladding, as it is versatile, can be used in any room in the house. However, it is necessary to understand the characteristics of the material to see how it can be best used.

After all, the countertop, floor and walls are covered with different materials.

Before purchasing a white covering for the kitchen, you need to define the style of the decoration. This will help you choose from the different materials and types of coating available on the market.

For example, models with texture make the environment different. On the other hand, smooth models are recommended for those who don’t want to worry about difficulty cleaning.

“An interesting tip is not to cover the entire wall and dedicate its presence to the damp area, such as the front of the sink. This strategy makes the decor softer, in addition to helping with the mission of saving financial resources”, he advises.

Bathroom

As the bathroom is usually one of the smallest rooms in the house, plain white covering is essential to offer a feeling of spaciousness.

In this case, it is also recommended that residents choose the decoration style before choosing the material.

“An important point is to think about the amount of grout. Due to the intense humidity generated by the steam from the bath, on the floor I avoid working with 2 x 2cm or 5 x 5cm tiles or hexagonal tiles, as there is much more grout area to get dirty. As for the walls, which accumulate less water, we have a little more freedom in this aspect”, advises the architect.

It’s almost automatic to associate white cladding with a fresh, clean environment.

Therefore, a tip that helps hide dirt in everyday life, related to tiles, is to combine them with black grout. Thus, in addition to highlighting the material, it will disguise the inevitable accumulation of dirt.

Furthermore, a golden tip is to opt for the acrylic version for both the kitchen and bathroom, as it absorbs less water than cementitious grout and offers extra charm in the decor.
