what to do in miami

what to do in miami

North America

I’ve been coming to Miami for a few years on vacation, right after Christmas, for about fifteen days. It’s the best time in the city, as the temperature is mild, you can go to praia, The days are usually beautiful and I still catch the post-Christmas sales and the premieres of the first films of the year. No wonder the city is full of Brazilians!

Miami Beach

The calm of South Beach

So, I decided to list here some miami daysa city that I love and that has become very sophisticated in recent times, especially in terms of gastronomy.

What we usually do is turn “shopping” into a trip. By going to a different place each time, you won’t get tired, especially if there’s a good restaurant nearby.

O lobby do Betsy Hotel

The beach, naturally, is one of the city’s strong points and cannot be missed in a Miami itinerary; It is never too crowded and the sea is always gentle and warm. The boardwalk is very pleasant, ideal for exercising. After the first part, where there is the Betsy Hotel (super charming and with a great restaurant) and a Starbucks, comes the wooden boardwalk, where we see the swimming pools of all the hotels in the city. Ocean Drive.

The pleasant promenade of South Beach

On the other side, following the Washington Ave. There is a beautiful park called South Point, great for children to play and with lots of space for walking, running and cycling, as well as a wonderful restaurant that I mention below, called Smith and Wollinsky.

Miami’s Caribbean air

Let’s go:

South Beach:

– Collins Av. – several stores, such as Tommy Hillfigher, Armani Exchange, Urban Outfitters, MAC, Zara, Diesel, Kenneth Cole, etc. Plus a huge Wallgreens right on the corner!

– Lincoln Road – is a pedestrian-only street, wide, full of shops and restaurants. Lots of people walking, riding bikes, skateboards, rollerblades. The best place to shop at Miami Beach! But be careful: despite having many restaurants, most are poor. So, I’ll highlight the ones that are worth it: the Italian Quattro, Miss Yep (good and cheap Chinese), Meat Market (meat), Mexican Rose, Baires (relaxed Argentinean with great meat) and at the end, Shake Shak (wonderful burger and milkshake!!)

For those who watch the film, there are no subtitles, but right at the end of the street there is a great cinema with about 15 screens.

Stores: all the franchise stores you can imagine and more. This is also where the Apple store is located – always packed!

O visual de South Beach

Fifth and Alton

Shopping center that has Best Buy (best place for electronics), TJ Max (very cheap store), Staples (stationery store) and Publix (excellent supermarket).

Restaurants:

Hakkasan

Asian restaurant with extraordinary food and beautiful decor, one of the most beautiful bars I’ve ever seen! Located in the spectacular Fontainebleau hotel

Your home

Italian and one of the best restaurants in Miami outside the hotel, charming!

– The Inn

unpretentious, small and very good Italian!

– Prime112

The owner of this resto owns more than half of the restaurants in Sobe (South of South Beach). This one is meat, very famous, trendy, (frequented by Shakil O Nell and Gisele Bunchen). Huge queues. Opposite there is the Italian version, Prime Italian, also very good! Marriott.

– Big Pink

The food isn’t anything great, but it serves as a good stopgap for coffee or a snack. Now, be careful: the portions are HUGE!

A vista do Smith and Wollensky

Smith and Wollinsky

This is a complete tour, perfect for lunch! As it faces the sea, at this time of year it is possible to see cruise ships passing by. It’s beautiful and unmissable – super miami dica!

A brunch patisserie from Glutonnerie

– Gluttony

Relaxed French, with a highlight for the great brunch on the weekends.

where to eat miami

Joe’s incredible crabs

– Joe’s Crab

A classic from Miami, with the best crab in town! Always crowded, doesn’t take reservations, but it’s worth the wait. Next door, there is a take out, which is cheaper and where you can also eat.

restaurantes south beach

Milos’ wine cellar and delicatessen

– Milo’s Estiatorio

New Greek, which exists in NY and Las Vegas. Very good food and beautiful decor.

– Ground fire

Right next to the Greek, so you miss the food at home.

Shopping in front of South Beach:

– Sawgrass Mall

It’s about 45 minutes from South Beach and is the best outlet in the area! You can plan the whole day because it is HUGE!! The best stores – more chic – are outside, like Valetino, Prada, Burberry, Michael Kors, Hugo Boss, etc. Inside, there’s a little bit of everything, and some sports giants like Nike and Sports Authority.

To eat inside, only food court stuff – I hate it – so, I suggest, eating outside at a cool Italian restaurant called Villagio.

Bal Harbour –

And the shopping but classy Miami! The anchor stores are Saks and Neiman Marcus (dept stores). On the balcony, there are two great restaurants: Carpaccio (Italian, preferred by Brazilians, always packed with people from São Paulo) and La Goulue (French) and inside there is a wonderful Japanese restaurant, Makoto.

– Aventura Mall

And the most complete shopping mall in Miami to go shopping. It has the best Bloomingdales and every possible store, including an Apple store.

shopping miami

Anthropologie – one of my favorite stores

– Merrick Park

It’s a nice shopping mall to walk around because it’s open. Stay in Coral Gables, more or less 30 minutes from south beach. Good stores, especially Nordstrom, a great department store and Anthropologie, with beautiful dresses and really cute home things!

For restaurants, there is Villagio (same as Sawgrass) which is good and several others, but nothing special.

eat in miami

Shorty’s delicious chicken

Now, not far from there, there’s a very rustic, zero-glamorous restaurant that I love, which is Shorty’s: its specialty is ribs and chicken, as well as wonderful skewered corn! You have to ignore any frills to go there, the table is communal and the paper napkins are very cheap and the food is worth it!

bars in miami

Zuma’s sakes

More restaurants:

– Houston’s – very good meat restaurant, cool atmosphere, great margherita! Across the street is a really cool Barns and Nobles (bookstore)!

The Capital Grille – another good meat restaurant located in Brickell, dowtown. I suggest going for lunch.

– Zuma wonderful and beautiful Japanese! It’s at the Hotel Epic, in downtown. I suggest going to dinner.

Midtown e Design District

These are two new areas of Miami that are worth it! It has different stores, more fashionable, really cool restaurants and art galleries. I suggest:

where to drink in miami

Sugarcane’s drinks

Sugarcane – New York atmosphere, high ceilings, more action, with good food, of course! It has an oyster bar, Asian dishes and also burgers.

Mercadito modern Mexican, good food and pleasant atmosphere.

Now that you have your miami itinerary enjoy and tell me where you went.
