However, scratches, chips and stains on the walls can be removed with some tricks and products that do not damage the painting, so that it remains preserved for longer.
Wall stain
Before we move on to specific stains, it’s good to know that you can carry out general cleaning of your wall, especially if it’s white, simply by following these steps:
- Weak spots: with detergent and warm water, lightly rub the stain using these products and a soft white cloth;
- Strong stains: Make a mixture of warm water and white vinegar (same proportions for both), also rubbing the stained area in light circular movements.
However, not all stains are the same and, therefore, different cleaning methods must be followed.
Hand stains
The most common marks to see on a wall are those of hands. Therefore, the technique used in this case is common detergent, warm water and a white cloth or soft sponge.

Mark of colored pencil or marker

Therefore, alcohol or acetone is necessary. Therefore, use a cotton swab dipped in one of these products. Apply carefully, without rubbing too hard.

In the case of a wall stained by mold, use white vinegar with warm water, applying with a soft sponge. Repeat the process until all the dark spots are gone.
If the stain is very strong, bleach diluted in regular water may be effective.
Greasy wall stain
Grease stains or greasy hands can also be removed with regular detergent and warm water. However, leave the detergent on the stain for longer before cleaning it. Do not use specific degreasing products on the walls, just detergent.
Finally, remember to always dry the wall after using any product on your wall.
