I’m not very good at baking, but I’ve learned some things through my trials (and errors) and I think I have some tips to share with those of you who have difficulty making bread. I’m sure it will help at least a little.

In general, most bread recipes have the following steps:
1. mix ingredients;
2. knead for about 10 minutes;
3. let it rise until the dough doubles in size;
4. shape the breads;
5. let it grow again;
6. bake.

By observing these steps, I can already point out 2 very common mistakes that make recipes go wrong:

1. Knead a little. Many people just mix the ingredients and think that is enough, but it is necessary to knead. You can knead on a surface sprinkled with flour or in a bowl-like container. Kneading is pushing the dough with the palm of your hand and pulling it back to where it was.

2. Not letting it grow enough. There is no point in following a recipe when it comes to the time needed to let it rise. Because the bread from “Maria” which is in the Northeast, where the temperature is 30ºC, will rise much faster than the bread from “Joana” which is in the South of the country with an ambient temperature of 18ºC. So at this stage it’s worth observing, that is, the bread can only be shaped and baked when the dough has doubled in size, this could take 1 hour or 3 hours, so don’t follow the time the recipe says, observe if the dough has doubled in size. size, take your time!

Now that you know how to correct some possible errors, let’s look at a trick that helps me a lot.

How to Make Breads Rise Faster:

If you live in a region where the climate is colder, or if you decide to make bread in winter, your bread may not rise because the yeast needs heat to activate. In this case I have a trick that I have already taught in some posts and I will put it here again.

Boil some water (500ml is enough) and place the water in a basin inside the switched off oven. Along with it (on the rack above the oven) place the dough or already shaped breads to rise (you can use this trick in both stages). Keep the oven closed for 1 hour. The humidity and heat that the freshly boiled water promotes inside the oven makes the bread rise beautifully! I still like to cover the pan with plastic wrap, so the dough stays even more stuffy.
