The part that we consider the most beautiful is in front of Anémona de Mar Beach Club, which has great beach facilities. But it’s worth remembering that sun loungers, as on all the beaches we visited in the Riviera Maya, are charged separately.

The climate of beach club It’s very nice, the music is good and this is a quieter area of Playa Chunchacab. The region where the Pelicanos Beach Club and the Tikin-xic and El Cielo bars they tend to be more crowded. But if you want to have lunch, there is a fixed price buffet.

Despite being an environmental protection area, there are many attractions in the park, ranging from other beaches, lakes with crocodiles and viewpoints. Below I talk about some of the main ones:

CELARAIN LIGHTHOUSE

Imposing and one of the main attractions of the place, the Celarain Lighthouse It is a lighthouse over 30m high that can be visited by anyone in the park. But to do this you have to climb its more than 130 steps until you have the most privileged view of all of Punta Sur.

On the opposite side of the beaches are the Colombia, Chunchacab and X’Tacún lagoonswhere it is possible to see flamingos and crocodiles. In the latter there is even a observation tower.

At Laguna Colombia, visitors can also do a boat trip by the lagoon.

MAYAN RUINS

Punta Sur Park also has some Mayan ruins open to visitors, such as the The snailwhich is close to the lagoon observation tower.

An interesting fact is that it is very easy to find animals such as iguanas in these areas of ruins. But in general, I was really scared of meeting crocodiles somewhere beyond the lagoons lol.

OTHER BEACHES

In addition to the beloved Playa Chunchacab and the one located near Faro Celarain, there are also some other beaches in the park. Only many are protected for turtle nesting.

You will be able to see them on the path between the ticket office and the lighthouse, as well as at the top of it.
