One of the most visited destinations in high season in Bahia is called: Praia do Espelho. The suggestive name is easily explained. Previously called Coruípe, the beach changed its name because it has waters so clear that they look like mirrors reflecting paradisiacal landscapes.
The other surrounding beaches as beautiful as Espelho are: Setiquara, Outeiro, Jacumã and dos Amores, accessible from walks at low tide. The bucolic atmosphere is evident in the sand on the beaches where there is not even a plastic chair. The tents neatly feature sun loungers with cushions and mats on the sand, providing maximum comfort to visitors. Some viewpoints above the cliffs reveal exuberance. Some boat trips departing from Praia do Espelho are fun options towards Rio dos Frades, Trancoso, Caraíva and Corumbau.
The inns are like an extension of the beaches, as they offer as much tranquility, comfort and beauty as the coastal landscapes. In addition to the view of the sea, the rooms are equipped with cutting-edge technology, spacious beds, airy outdoor spaces with space for gazebos and hammocks, swimming pools and some with whirlpools. Some have a sports court and games room. This way, leisurely nights are guaranteed. At dusk the candles are lit and a space for outdoor dining is prepared.
An abundance of gastronomic dishes full of flavors is guaranteed. If you want more excitement, look for some beach huts that, from time to time, play live music and also serve delicious regional dishes. Many tourists choose to take a day trip from Trancoso, due to the high prices. However, there is nothing like spending a few days enjoying the landscape.
There is no doubt about what to do in Praia do Espelho: beaches, beaches and more beaches.
Which? Jacumã, very deserted and perfect for bathing; Outeiro surrounded by multi-colored reefs; Amores isolated by two large rocks and Espelho with the sea so transparent that it can be compared to the Caribbean.
In addition to enjoying nature by bathing in the waters, admiring corals and hiking, also take the opportunity to indulge in elaborate dishes or fish-based snacks at the surrounding kiosks and bars.
At the end of the day, visit the artisanal ateliers in the region that offer good options for rustic gifts.
Regional Crafts
The cities and especially the villages in Bahia know one thing very well: how to make beautiful crafts. Crafts and the beach go hand in hand. Simple decorative artifacts or various kitchen utensils are found in a studio near a beach. In Praia do Espelho and nearby it is possible to find handmade candles and interesting boxes for gifts and to decorate the most varied environments.
Candles Atelier
The now famous candles adorn the inns and restaurants in the region. The craftsman gave up his career as an engineer and dedicated himself to making handmade candles. The paraffin in combination with the vine forms sumptuous candles of different shapes. Some transform into real luminaries. It is on the road to Trancoso.
Reinaldo Crafts
The craftsman is already a professional in the production of utensils and decorative objects. His productions include boxes, placemats and other objects made from well-sanded piassava seeds and coconut straw. The tablets used in manufacturing provide a mosaic of colors. It is in the district of Itaporanga, on Rua São João (11 km away).
The beaches found in the village are identified by a single factor: excessive beauty. They all have some things in common such as cliffs, clear green sea, soft light sand and lots of greenery.
Despite this, none are equal to the other. Each one has its own uniqueness, especially Praia do Espelho, formerly Coruípe, which is a reference among beaches throughout Bahia. Each one is worth checking out, even if access to some is difficult.

It’s redundant to say, but Praia do Espelho is one of the most beautiful on the southern coast of Bahia. The calm seas, surrounded by cliffs and with an indecisive color between green and blue, attract tourists from all over the world in high season. The crystal clear water is so famous that it gave the place its name.
The waters really look like mirrors that effortlessly reflect the beauty of the place: the greenery that surrounds the beach and the colorful reefs. The beach is divided into two, one before and one after the river. More peace and quiet can be found in the area after crossing the river. Agitation is in the left corner where the bars and inns are. It’s best to go early to see the cliffs that disappear at high tide. If possible, stay to enjoy the sunset, which happens around 5pm.

Access to this beach is possible by walking from the left stretch of Espelho to Praia dos Amores, which is calmer and a perfect setting for couples surrounded by rocks on both sides and a huge white cliff.

Outeiro Beach
As it is quite deserted, you won’t find any beach huts there. Also called Setiquara, it is surrounded by reefs, green sea and delicious places for swimming. At low tide, take the opportunity to look for the most distant corals by entering the sea, which is shallow at knee height.
Jacumã Beach
Further away than Praia dos Amores, Jacumã is the most deserted of all. Its route takes 50 minutes to walk, as car access is restricted.
With sunshine for much of the year, there isn’t much taboo when it comes to choosing a month. However, remember that between September and October it tends to be colder and from March to May it tends to rain almost every day.
To avoid the hustle and bustle and enjoy the practically private beaches, travel out of season.
