Meatball Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients

  • 7 baguettes
  • 500 g of ground beef of your choice (learn how to defrost ground beef)
  • 1 tablespoon of oil
  • seasonings to taste
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 cooked and chopped carrot
  • 3 stalks of celery
  • 2 peeled and seedless tomatoes, chopped
  • 4 torn basil leaves
  • 1 cup of water
  • 3 tablespoons of tomato paste
  • slices of mozzarella cheese to taste

Preparation mode

  1. First, let’s make the meatballs to fill the sandwich. So, take a medium bowl and add the ground meat and season with salt and seasonings to taste.
  2. Mix well and shape the meatballs into small balls.
  3. Once done, grill in a frying pan with oil, turning all sides.
  4. Then, set all the meatballs aside.
  5. For the sauce, put the oil in a pan and heat.
  6. Add the onion, grated canoura and celery and sauté for about 5 minutes.
  7. Then add the tomato, basil, tomato paste and water.
  8. Let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes and turn off the heat.
  9. To assemble the sandwiches, break the baguettes in half.
  10. Thus, fill each baguette with 3 or 4 meatballs, 2 spoons of tomato sauce and 1 or 2 slices of mozzarella on top.
  11. Once done, place the sandwiches in the oven for about 5 minutes to melt the cheese and they are ready to serve.

Meatball sandwich preparation tips

  • A good choice of meat to grind to make meatballs is beef duck, skirt steak or breast.
  • In fact, to fill the sandwich the meatballs cannot be too big, so the ideal is to make balls 3 centimeters in diameter.
  • As for the cheese, you can replace it with cheddar, cheese or even buffalo mozzarella, or if you prefer, you can give up the cheese in this recipe.
