Without a doubt, one of the biggest mistakes when it comes to makeup is thinking that what looks good on one skin tone will look good on another, when, in fact, each skin tone requires specific colors and products.
There is still very little talk about makeup aimed at black women, whose skin requires specific products and techniques.

Makeup tips for dark-skinned women!
1. Moisturize your face and neck
Regardless of skin color and type, this is a basic rule: moisturize your skin before applying makeup, as it needs to be very clean and hydrated. Black women need, in addition to moisturizing their face, to also moisturize their chest, as the difference in luminosity between the two areas is always more evident.
The tip is to apply a little of your own face moisturizer (or a body moisturizer) on your lap, to try to match the texture of both areas as much as possible.

2. Golden tones
One tip is to invest in a primer with gold pigments (there are many on the market). Avoid, however, investing in products with lighter and more pearly pigments, as they can make black skin gray.
And this tip also applies to highlighters, always prefer gold and tan ones over pearlescent ones, to illuminate your skin naturally. When applying, apply to the temples, nose and around the upper lip.

3. Foundation in the right tone
When applying foundation, first, you need to know your skin tone. It’s worth knowing that some women have colder skin, that is, more grayish, others warmer, with a pink undertone, so it’s important to know your skin tone and choose the foundation respecting your tone.
If your skin is colder, with some darker spots, which is common in black skin, then the tip is to mix foundations. Use a warmer foundation in these dark areas to neutralize and a cold one in other areas of the face, remembering that the trend at the moment is natural skin, so avoid loading your face with the product.
The tip is to just correct the darker areas (usually close to the hair roots, around the lips and nose) and then give a very light blend with the brush to the other areas.

4. The ideal concealer
Most women tend to use a lighter concealer in the eye area to brighten it, however, those with dark skin need to choose a concealer that exactly matches their tone, avoiding an ashy finish.

5. Avoid translucent powder
Those with black skin need to avoid using translucent powder (that white one), it doesn’t look good on black skin, as it tends to turn grey. The makeup tip, in this case, is to opt for a more orange or bronze powder, which looks great on dark skin. Try applying it to the T-zone to control oiliness.

6. Warm tones
Invest in shadows in warm tones, as they look great on those with dark skin, while on white skin tones like bronze and gold look smoky, on black skin they brighten.
Certainly, it’s worth using whatever you want, even a cold-toned eyeshadow, like blue, but the ideal is to neutralize the eyelid first so the color appears. To neutralize, use a creamy product and then apply eyeshadow. If you apply the color directly, depending on the coverage of the product, the color may not appear.
It’s worth knowing that there are already some specific eye primers on the market, although if you don’t have one, that’s okay, just use a concealer or creamy eyeshadow that matches your skin tone.

7. Invest in matte lipsticks
As black women’s lips are darker, it is essential to invest in high-coverage lipsticks. If you use a lipstick with a very transparent color, as the color of your lips is darker, it will not stand out. Therefore, the tip is to invest in lipsticks with a matte finish, which are great for dark skin because they provide more coverage.
When choosing the color, however, prefer warmer and more closed tones, such as wine and purple, they make the makeup more harmonious. But, of course, nothing stops you from using a lighter tone, especially those who want a more dramatic effect.
