List of the 100 best bars in Brazil, according to Casual Exame

What would Brazilians do without a bar? These lively and relaxed places are so present and important in our lives, that Casual Exame 2023 announced this year’s edition of the 100 best bars in Brazil. The selection was made by a jury made up of 60 renowned critics and influencers, including the editor-in-chief of You Must Go!, Renata Araújo, and assistant editor Duda Vétere. An arduous task! Among the hundred, we have already met some of them, and we can confirm their inclusion in this select group. For the second year in a row, Tan Tan, in São Paulo, came in first place, with 22 votes. Top 10 best bars in Brazil

After the champion and modern Tan Tan, led by chef Thiago Bañares, comes Santana Bar, also in SP, with a menu of 78 classics and nine signature drinks, signed by Gabriel Santana. Closing the podium is The Liquor Store, a discreet bar with just 20 seats, also run by Thiago Bañares. Managed by chef Bruno Katz, the bar in Ipanema, Our, came in fourth place. The house follows the gastrobar style and has contemporary cuisine. From position 17 in 2022, Caledonia Whiskey & Co., in SP, achieved fifth place this year. On Friday, there is SubAstor, with a discreet and dark atmosphere. In seventh place, Bar do Capincho, in Porto Alegre, is located in a 1930s mansion.

There’s a Bahian on the list!

Meanwhile, MiniBar Gem, from Salvador, came in eighth place. Run by the couple Lisiane Arouca and Fabrício Lemos, from the award-winning Origem, the cocktail bar has capacity for just 20 people, and offers signature drinks, with a menu called “Bahia Além do Dendê”. With 10 taps, Cervejaria Viela took ninth place and the place became a tourist attraction in Belo Horizonte. To close the Top 10, Pirex, also in BH, was among the 10 best bars in Brazil with its laid-back atmosphere.

Already in 15th place is Bar da Dona Onça, by renowned chef Janaína Rueda. At the foot of São Paulo’s iconic building, Copan, designed in the 1950s by architect Oscar Niemeyer, the bar offers classic bar meals and dishes characteristic of popular Brazilian cuisine. In 19th position, Seen appears, a trendy rooftop on the 23rd floor of the Tivoli Mofarrej hotel. With a cool atmosphere, it has a super decorated central bar.

At 26°, the sophisticated Arp, in Rio, is at the foot of the Hotel Arpoador and is great for a breakfast with a view or a happy hour at sunset. Tied with it is Quartinho, in Botafogo, which seeks to explore unusual ingredients and prepare unique drinks. Meanwhile, in 32nd place, Bar Urca, a Carioca Cultural Heritage Site since 2012, with cold beer and pie or pastry, and Chanchada, also in Botafogo, from the same partners as Quartinho, are also tied.
