  1. Actually, you can peel it without a knife. You can use your fingers. It has layer like onion. That way you won't lose a lot of the precious meat. Pinch a part of the top and pull it all the way down. If you find it difficult to use your fingers, you can use knife only at the start, then pull.

  2. Do you think you can put the boiled ones in the freezer to take out in batches, kind of like frozen french fries? Thanks for the video!

  3. I love jicama and thank you for the recipe. But, I have a question. Why do we need to boiled the jicama? Can we use it without cooking it first?

  4. Don't overthink or overcomplicate Jicama.

Peel, cut in half, slice the halves into chip sizes, and crosscut into shoe string potato (French) fries.

Lay on plate, dribble olive oil, then sprinkle your favorite seasonings, and microwave for 5 minutes.

Jicama is the perfect thing to cook in a microwave.

    Better than French fries.

  5. For starters you should know how to pronounce this word, which is "HEE cah MAH".

Inulin is an example of an insoluble fibre, but the words aren't synonymous.

Wash all botanicals which have been growing in or upon the earth. The soil is the reservoir for many, many bacteria, including those in the family Enterobacteriaceae. Especially important in food borne illness are Escherichiae, Campylobacter, and Salmonella.

Even though you're peeling this root, surface contaminants will be carried onto the flesh and your preparation surfaces with each knife stroke.

I'm going to Americas Test Kitchen.

But pronounce this Spanish word properly.

  6. Hello Robin. New to your channel. This my first time growing Jicama. I am glad that I found your channel. I am going to try this recipe. I have never eaten Jicama either. So this going to interesting. Thank you for providing this tutorial.

  7. WOW, AMAZING , CANT WAIT TO TRY THIS, THANK YOU FOR THIS GAME CHANGING INFOMATION . THIS MIGHT BR GREAT FOR THE AIR FRYER. 👍🏾🙌🏾❤️😇

  8. Hi Robin, did you ever try making mashed jicama? We make jicama fries all the time, as well as use it as potatoes in hash. But haven't tried mashing as it doesn't seem to get soft enough. But maybe we're not boiling long enough?

  9. inulin is the same stuff in Jerusalem artichokes also called fartichokes. Boiling helps remove the inulin from what i've read. And let me tell you, if you don't get rid of the inulin to some capacity…you will be farting like you've never farted before. Jerusalem artichokes are very good btw, nutty potatoe.

  10. Thank you for the recipe. It seems to me a bit of a stubborn vegetable 😂. No matter how long I boil it before frying, it stays hard…Will try baking them , as you suggest. 😊
