It is very common on a trip to the Mexican Caribbean for people to combine several cities and one of the doubts that arise is how to get from Cancun to Playa del Carmenit is leaving the airportfrom your hotel in Hotel Zone or even the city center.
This happens because Playa del Carmen is one of the main cities in Riviera Mayawhere there are other highly visited destinations, such as Tulum e Cumulative. The good news is that it is very easy to move between these places and that is what we talk about in this post.
HOW TO GO FROM CANCUN TO PLAYA DEL CARMEN
There are several ways to get from one city to another, regardless of your place of origin. Below you can see the main ones, such as transfer (shuttle), rented car, bus or even shared vans.

CANCUN AIRPORT PR PLAYA DEL CARMEN
Many people already disembark at Cancún airport and want to continue their journey to the Riviera Maya, where Playa del Carmen is located and many of the largest resorts of the Mexican Caribbean.
And how to make this journey? There are options for all budgets. Let’s look at the main ways:
DE TRANSFER (SHUTTLE)
There are a multitude of companies that provide this service. Despite being more expensive, it is usually very practical, as the agency waits for you when you disembark and you are soon on your way to the Riviera Maya. There is private or shared transfers (these usually have pre-established times).
Us We use this service but in the opposite direction, between our hotel in Playa del Carmen and Cancún airport. We decided to hire him so we could schedule our flight back to Brazil at the right time.

BY RENTAL CAR
If you are not going to use a car to travel around cities and beaches, maybe it’s not a good idea rent it just to get from the airport to your hotel. Add to this the fact that there are many reports of tourists being approached by police officers in the region they do everything to extract some bribes.
But if you need it, we suggest you consult the site da Rentcarswhich is a search engine that finds the best prices among the main rental companies. As it is Brazilian, payment is in reais, without IOF and can also be paid in installments.
BY BUS
This is one of cheaper ways to go from Cancún airport to Playa del Carmen. Company buses ADO They leave the terminals themselves and go straight to the bus station, which is right on Fifth Avenue, in the heart of the city and close to the beach.
You can check timetables and book everything from the site. It is even recommended to have these travel reservations on hand as they can be requested at the immigration in Mexico.
BY TAXI
This may be another option, but it is also recommended book in advance to find better prices. On the day I write this post, for example, the ride between the airport and Playa del Carmen costs US$44 if booked online or US$70 on the spot. You can see prices on this website.

FROM THE HOTEL AREA TO PLAYA DEL CARMEN
If you are already at your hotel and want to know how to get from Cancún to Playa del Carmen leaving the Hotel Zoneyou have slightly fewer options.

If you want to go by bus, the path is a little more complicated. You will need to get the public buses R1 or R2 that pass through the Hotel Zone and Head to Cancún bus station (or take a taxi).
From there, you can go to Playa del Carmen and other cities in the Riviera Maya on the buses ADO or you can also continue your journey shared vans that leave the street right in front.
In both cases, your disembarkation will be close to Quinta Avenida in Playa, where the bus station is located and also, about three blocks away, the final point where vans arrive and leave, on Calle 2 between Avenidas 20 and 25.

LEAVING THE CENTER OF CANCÚN
For those staying in the center of Cancún, what I said above also applies in this case. You can pick up ADO buses at the bus station or any of the vans.
There are also companies transfers that you can stop at your hotel to make the journey to Playa (See companies that provide the service here). Another option is negotiate with a taxi driver in the central region.
