  1. what type of cookware stove are you using should the electric not work? propane based camping oven? Solar? need thoughts on what to get. your video is very helpful thank you

  2. Hi Great video.. Methods of storage might be helpful as space can be a issue for sum… Vacuum sealing/ removing oxygen .. Possible look at tools for prepping and long term storage.. Complicated in the UK to find tools that are effective for long term storage.. A tool to re-vacuum glass jars would be great help to many for dry goods!! Killer jars and lids are hard to find at the moment…A look at what long term storage you are using.. rose red home stead on u tube has a more scientific perspective on food storage.. She is outstanding communicator.. MAY HELP SOME ..Neil Lochness Scottish Highlands..

  3. During the beginning of the pandemic a lot of people were so concerned about stockpiling dried food that they ignored the produce section. I recommend buying fresh produce that freezes well. You can cut up broccoli, carrots, bell peppers, cabbage, and kale and toss them into freezer bags.

Also, you can make freezer jam with fresh or frozen fruit. Canning and preserving is really easy with a pressure cooker. Produce can be grown in small spaces like a balcony. I actually installed a grow light in my pantry and I was able to grow micro greens indoors.

  4. A lot of instant pots have a preserving option otherwise you can use the more traditional pressure cooker

  5. Great video, thanks. Let's all get prepped. We may never lose power and food for long but it sure makes you feel good to develop more self-sufficiency.

  6. Hi, nice video, I just wanted to say, no soaking needed in the instant pot. Also, what are you guys doing when electricity is not avaible, how are you going to prepare the dried foods?

  7. The most important part of my pantry is my sourdough starter. With just flour and water you can have the start of breads, pizzas, muffins and all kinds of sweets that you can make very easily. It’s definitely worth looking up how to start and maintain a sourdough starter if you want to be healthier now and prepared for any type of bread shortages in the future

  8. Loved this video!!! My husband and I eat 95% vegan diet and fish on the side so I can have during pregnancy!! But this video was awesome thank you so much for sharing!!❤️❤️❤️

  9. Pertaining to water, there is a device that you can have installed on your roof that that pulls moisture out of the air and stores that moisture as water. Depending on the model you get, you can get between 8 to 20 gallons per day.

  10. If anyone is new to this you have to think of storage life balanced with your ability to cook the food. If you can't cook at home because your utilities are cut off and you don't have an indoor safe camping stove and you can't cook outside, then dried beans are useless. Even if you have a stove and fuel, dried beans will blow through the fuel. My stove doesn't even hold enough fuel to cook beans. So you have to figure out how to deal with that, either getting canned/freeze dried stuff or learning how to use a dutch oven or thermal cooker/thermos etc

You should have a good amount of food that doesn't require cooking. Canned food is really important and usually doesn't require extra water, which many people won't have anyway.

Everyone should have a 72hr bag. Anyone's home (and contents of their home) can burn down or be destroyed by fire. Earthquakes, floods and tornadoes/hurricanes too. You need to be able to grab what's important, and you need enough food, water, clothing, shelter, medicine, etc. to last you at least 3 days. If you had to leave right before you started cooking dinner and all the stores were closed, and the roads were damaged or gridlocked, what would you do? I've heard so many people say they had to deal with that. Even if they got in the car and were able to leave, they were starving for 8 hours as they sat in traffic or whatever. Your 72hr bag especially needs stuff you don't have to cook

  11. I love your list it's on 👉 Point! The only thing is there is a lot info on Soy promoting estrogen growth. So it may not be as safe for males. Or anyone from my perspective.

  12. Ok, so here's my situation. I live in Australia. We are running out of even oats ! I'm severely overweight and need to lose about 25kg. My specialist endocrine dr said I can't eat bananas or some other fruit as they spoke my insulin. I don't have diabetes but I did have a pituatory tumour of which I had five surgeries , a long stint in hospital with complications like a collapsed lung. And now my thyroid doesn't work and I need mess for rharz I have severe asthma, and I am depressed and anxious (, have PTSD too quite severe) and need medications to cope.
I was never overweight until I started drinking to cope, and eating high carb foods.
Veganism appeals to me from a ethical point , because I love animals.
But I. Am not at all sure , given my circumstances how to begin.
All dietician people I've seen just want me to eat animal products

  13. A word of caution for soy, thyroid patients should avoid it. Soy can adversely affect thyroid. Also if budget allows invest in a freeze dryer. I can, dehydrate, freeze and now freeze dry my food. I also garden organically and recommend adding garden seeds to your preps.Home food preservation is a skill that brings peace of mind. A container garden even where space is limited can provide fresh options. Great info

  14. Great Haul. You’ve got some of my favorites! You also got a few things I’ve never seen before. I’m gonna keep my eyes out for them next time I shop. I make vegan cooking, hauls,DIY,ect. videos. As a fellow you tube creator I appreciate all the effort you put into your content! I look forward to watching more of your videos.

  15. I highly recommend getting a garden started, even if containers are the only option you have. A patio tree or if you have yard space, there are fruit cocktail trees for sale that have a variety of fruits on a single tree.

  16. We have a rain-water system and a home-made Berkey that holds several gallons. I cannot recommend having this enough! We use our gutters to initially catch the rain, then it travels down pipes into storage tanks. Rain water (filtered) is the sweetest water I have ever tasted in my life!

  17. Buying in larger bulk sizes is the only way to go if you can afford to. Plus don't forget the spices and other ingredients to turn those grains into a proper dish or meal that tastes great.

  18. I have trouble cooking dried chickpeas…they are always hard. I want them like in a can. What am I doing wrong? I even use my instant pot.

  19. I'm so happy to come across your channel. We've lost power a few times which I use as a practice drill. I have a solar oven for cooking which I try to use at least once a week to hone my skills. It's awesome for cooking beans and soups. I did realize that I lost access to my meal plans when the WiFi went down. Oops 😬. During the lock down we planted fruit trees, carefully planned with staggered ripening seasons. We're really enjoying the "fruits of our labors"
I'm looking forward to future content from you two. Keep up the great work.

  20. Hi. Just came across your channel. Subscribed after watching this one video. We're not always going to agree with everything one person believes but I loved your vibe, your outlook and the content. Where abouts are you? I'm in Australia.

  21. You gave me an idea. I live in Canada and it gets really cold and I get snowed in for a lot of the winter. I usually spend the summers growing my food and preserving for the winter. Actually right now I am pressure canning some chick peas. I love to have some jars on the pantry shelf for spur of the moment foods like hummus etc. And, the taste is sooo much better than buying a tin. I was thinking I might dehydrate some greens to make my own green powder. I will also be dehydrating apples from my trees in the fall, and if the fruit trees don’t do well, I will grab a bushel at the farmers market. I love those giant bags of beans you can buy down there. I have never seen them that big in my town. ❤
