Cooking Condensed Milk in the Microwave

Sweet cakes and pies

I already talked about this in 2010 here on the blog, but it was in another post and in a very superficial way, so I decided to teach it properly because it’s worth it. O milk cream done with Boiled condensed milk in the microwave It’s VERY tasty. Its color is lighter than when made in a pressure cooker, but the flavor is even milder and less cloying.

I use half a can of condensed milk at a time and put it in a tall ovenproof dish so it doesn’t spill, because it boils and rises a lot.

I put it on for 3 minutes at maximum power, remove it and mix with the wire whisk. It is important to have this utensil to remove all the pellets. There are some brown lumps underneath, this is normal, just mix well.

I go back to the microwave for another 1 minute, remove it, beat well, and go back to the microwave for another 1 minute. That’s the right time for my microwave, 5 minutes total, stopping after 3 minutes to mix, and then two more 1-minute times. This is to get a very firm sweet, if you want it creamier, just 4 minutes.

You need to test your microwaves and adapt the time to your appliances, as it varies a lot depending on the brand. My suggestion is that the first time you try it, do shorter times, stop the device every 30 seconds to mix and not run the risk of burning the candy.
