frango com molho de laranja

Chicken with Orange Sauce and Lurpak Butter

Meat

This recipe is perfect for this holiday season. It manages to be affordable and yet sophisticated, not to mention it looks delicious!
The sweet and acidic orange combines very well with poultry and pork and the butter adds flavor and a velvety touch. This is another dish I made using the delicious Lurpak butter, a Blog partner brand that I am most proud to recommend. Not just because it’s the tastiest butter I’ve ever tasted, but also because of its well-known quality. It is natural, clear, without dyes and will definitely make your dishes much tastier, just like this chicken of mine.

In this recipe I am using a cut that combines the drumstick and thigh together and is already boned. You can use whatever cut of bird you want or even a whole chicken.

Let’s start with seasoning the chicken, which can be made up to 30 hours in advance and kept in the refrigerator.
The only ingredient you have to use is orange juice, approximately 1 cup (tea). The remaining ingredients are at your discretion. In addition to the juice, I used a mix of herbs, salt and white pepper. My chicken was in the fridge for one night.

The next day, I placed it in a baking dish, on each piece of chicken I placed a square of Lurpak butter with salt, a sprig of rosemary and placed it in the preheated oven at 200ºC for 30 minutes without covering.

After this time, I removed the baking dish from the oven and carefully discarded the excess liquid that remained deposited at the bottom.
I returned the pan to the oven and left it until it browned nicely. This time varies a lot depending on the size of the chicken pieces and the power of your oven, so the ideal is to keep an eye on the color of the bird.

For the sauce, just heat:

– 50g of Lurpak butter with salt;
– 1 cup (tea) of natural orange juice;
– 1/2 tablespoon of starch;
– 1 tablespoon of sugar;
– ¼ tablet of chicken or vegetable broth.

Stir until it boils and thickens. If you want it to be saltier or sweeter, you can adjust the amount of salt and sugar at the end, adding more if desired.
Now just serve the chicken with the sauce on top and enjoy this deliciousness!
