Butter-style paper – What it is, uses and tips for using it

News

Having many uses and advantages, baking paper can be a great ally not only in recipes, but also throughout the house.

Sometimes confused with tracing paper, parchment-style paper has different types of purposes. It is intended for culinary recipes, as its wax layer does not allow food to stick.

With its non-stick surface, it is milk-colored and slightly transparent. It is sold in rolls, and has a wax finish, which makes it highly resistant to heat, meaning it can be used in recipes that require using the oven.

To be produced, butter-style paper mainly consists of passing the cellulose sheets through a sulfuric acid solution, to make it even more resistant. It then goes through washing and drying processes, all before going to commerce.

It is disposable, however, very useful. It has several advantages, such as covering the bottom of a cake pan, as it will be much easier to misinform.

It can also be used to prepare cookies, of any type. It will create a non-stick surface to prevent the cookies from sticking to the pan. Furthermore, it can also be used as an improvised piping bag.

Comparing baking paper to aluminum foil, for example, it has many more benefits. It protects products such as oil, butter or olive oil, as well as covering savory baked goods, acting as a wrap that goes in the oven with fish and vegetables, and can also be used in the microwave. Furthermore, its degradation is much faster than aluminum.

It can also be applied to the creation of ancient Japanese art, such as origami, which can form animals, flowers or objects. Be careful not to confuse baking paper, there are several similar ones, such as waxed or sulfurized paper. However, they are used for other purposes.
