Apple Pie

Sweet cakes and pies

When Finna asked me to do one revenue Using the brand’s wheat flour, I immediately thought of my mother’s recipes, those that were very homemade and comforting, but that were also easy to make. And with that in mind, I chose to do this Apple pie. After all, this Mother’s Day is going to be the most special day of my life! As I am writing this post in advance, my daughter may already be born when it goes live.

This pie leaves that delicious scent in the house and looks beautiful after it’s ready! There’s still time to prepare for Mother’s Day lunch, I’m sure it will be a success! Shall we go to the recipe?

Dough ingredients:
2 cups. (tea) wheat flour;
4 col. (soup) refined sugar;
1/2 col. cinnamon (tea) powder;
2/3 cup. (tea) cold margarine;
6 col. (soup) of ice water;
1 egg yolk for brushing;
2 col. (soup) of crystal sugar to sprinkle before baking.

Filling ingredients:
8 unpeeled gala or fuji apples;
3 col. (soup) of wheat flour;
2 col. lemon juice (soup);
1 pinch of nutmeg;
1 cup. (tea) refined sugar;
1/2 col. (tea) of cinnamon powder.

How to make the dough:
Mix the flour, sugar, cinnamon and margarine, knead with your fingertips until it becomes a coarse crumb. Ideally, it should have pieces of margarine, it doesn’t need to be 100% uniform. Add the ice water little by little and knead until it becomes a ball-shaped dough that no longer sticks to your hands. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap or a plastic bag and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

How to make the filling:
Cut the apples in half, remove the core and slice. Soak the slices in water mixed with the juice of 1 lemon, this prevents them from darkening. When finished, drain well and mix the rest of the ingredients. It’s natural for the apple slices to break during the mixing process, it’s okay.

Stuffing apple pie

Assembly:
Line the bottom and inner side of a 20 to 22 cm diameter pan with the dough. Add the filling. If you notice that it has released a lot of liquid, discard some of it, but you can add a little because it will thicken during cooking due to the flour present in the mixture.

To cover, roll out the dough, cut some strips and make a lattice (like a tic-tac-toe game).
Brush the egg yolk and sprinkle the crystal sugar on top.

Preheat the oven to 180ºC and bake for approximately 45 minutes. This time can vary a lot depending on the type of oven you have, so keep an eye on the color of the dough.
