Beauty tips for a job interview

Beauty

While you might think that your professional qualities are the only things that the recruiter will notice, this almost never happens.

Potential future bosses can, and will, judge you on your appearance and presentation.

Career consultants say that when someone has little knowledge and information about a person, it is human nature to assume things based on presentation and body language during the job interview.

Recruiters are particularly critical of potential employees because they will invest in them. Therefore, presenting yourself well-groomed and acting appropriately in certain situations makes you give a good impression of your personality and professionalism.

It may seem superficial, but if you’re in the final round of job interviews and face to face with another candidate, your poorly manicured nails could disqualify you. Subconsciously, the recruiter may link this to a lack of attention and care for details.

Job interview tips

Check out other tips that can be followed for a good presentation during the job interview:

Avoid heavy makeup

When it comes to a job interview, subtlety is ideal. Think simple, sophisticated and professional. Focus on leaving your skin clean and fresh. Don’t try to do your makeup “for a night out”.

But don’t suppress your personal identity either. Be true to yourself and do your makeup thinking about looking chic. Use your favorite lipstick, but make it softer.

To make your makeup perfect, apply a primer before foundation. If you tend to sweat when you feel pressured and nervous, carry compact powder and a mirror in your bag so you can touch up before being called for a job interview.

It’s also important to go for a manicure the day before the interview. Freshly painted nails in a neutral, natural color always work.

Adopt the “less is more” attitude

When deciding which products to use, less is definitely more. Don’t feel like you have to go all out extra just because it’s an interview.

A soft sweep of blush on your cheeks, a little mascara and a touch of color on your lips will always impress. Too much makeup can be distracting for a recruiter.

As for hair, well-combed strands show professionalism. Make sure your dye is up to date and your hair is clean.

Nothing says “I don’t care about how I look” like greasy hair.

When choosing a hairstyle, always go for one that doesn’t look messy or leave strands on your face. If in doubt, opt for a well-tied bun and an elegant ponytail.

Don’t use perfume

Regarding fragrance, it is safer not to use perfume. Everyone has different scent preferences and if your recruiter doesn’t like yours, it could take their attention away from your real skills.

Sometimes the details are what ruin it. Too much perfume, makeup, and loud accessories are very distracting in a job interview environment.

Do research

Keep in mind that the rules change depending on the workplace, whether it is more corporate or creative.

If you’re not sure, check the pages and social networks of the company you’re applying for the job for tips, or signs of how employees present themselves and follow them in your job interview.
