If you need to renew your wardrobe, but you don’t have money, it’s time to use your creativity and renew old clothes.
It’s not always possible to take a shower in a store. Buying new clothes constantly may not be that viable, and a danger to your credit card.
At these times it is necessary to use creativity with the pieces we already have in our wardrobe. An old dress can be transformed into a new, colorful and unique item. Because, there is nothing more unpleasant than going out with a wonderful look, and seeing someone else wearing the same thing.
We also cannot be unfair to our old pieces. Sometimes they mold in the back of the wardrobe, never being used again at a party or even in everyday life. It’s time to take them out of oblivion.

1 – Transform a white dress into a colorful one
Almost every woman has a dress like this:
To renew it you will need:
- foam brushes
- painter’s tape
- latex gloves – bin or bucket for dye
- drop cloth
- card
- Green, blue and purple dyes.
Place your dress on a piece of cardboard. This will ensure that your dye doesn’t spread all over your back. Start at the waist seam and paint it purple with a foam brush.
You can dilute it as you see fit, using 1 part dye in 2 parts water. Continue upward with the blue. Be sure to paint around the edge so you know where to continue your color lines when you turn the dress over. Lastly, let’s add the green. Paint all the way to the straps. Now flip it over and repeat.
You will inevitably have some of the dye on the bottom of the dress, so it’s time to add a light green wash to the skirt portion of your piece.
Mix 1 part dye with 6 parts water and bury the entire skirt part in the dye. Squeeze out excess dye. Put it in the washer and dryer to finish and you’re done.
2 – Blouse with a bow on the back
You know that old sweater you’ve had for a long time? How about giving it an upgrade with a bow? You will need:
- Sweater
- Satin ribbon
- Needle
- Screw thread
- Pino
- Scissors
If the sweater already has a cutout, remove the knit strip from the back. Remove the threads without cutting the mesh. Cut your ribbon to the desired length. Cut one end at an angle for a nice finish and the other straight. Carefully singe both ends with a lighter to prevent fraying. Fold its straight edge over an inch.
Pin it to the underside of your sweater with the folded side hidden underneath and the right side of the ribbon on top. Arrest her. Make sure not to pull your yarn too tight and gather or wrap the mesh. Hide the wires inside. And ready.
3 – Decorate blouses with colored stones
You can give your old blouses a new life by nailing stones to them. You will need:
- Blouse (or other item of clothing)
- Cola T6000 (ou similar)
- Straight base decorative stones
- Needle and thread (optional)
Arrange the gems on the blouse until you find the ideal arrangement for each one. Glue the decorative stones to the piece, one by one, with high-performance glue. A gluing tip is to apply the glue directly to the straight base of the gem and wait approximately 1 minute. Then, position the piece on the blouse, applying light pressure. If the gem is very small, use tweezers to help with gluing.
If the chosen stones have holes, sew them with thread and needle for extra reinforcement. Finish off, leaving the knot on the inside of the blouse. Let the glue dry for the time indicated on the packaging. After waiting this period, your item of clothing will be ready to be worn or washed.
4 – Transform an old sweater into a romantic piece
If you have an old sweater that you think you’ll never be able to wear again, know that you can transform it into a romantic piece.
First, cut each side seam of the sweater, opening a triangular area to insert a bow. The napkin was cut in half and sewn into each opening.
The sleeves were cut shorter and at an angle, and these pieces are attached in the doily section to allow for some stretch on the sides.
Then the lace-trimmed pleated pieces were placed under the doily sides, and a longer piece of the same pleated trim was sewn under the back hem of the sweater.
It will look like this:
5 – Print an old short
Nothing like giving new life to an old, worn-out pair of shorts. Why not print it?
Instructions:
- Squeeze a good amount of fabric paint onto scrap paper
- Dip the eraser edge of the pencil into the paint
- Starting at the front of the shorts, press the rubber into the fabric making a stitch. Every time I add paint to the eraser I get about two spots.
- Create a line of stitches along the top of your shorts
- Place another row of dots under the first, with each dot between the two above it
- Keep dotted! Look at the cute polka dot pattern you’re making!
- Let the first side of your shorts dry according to your paint’s instructions. Honestly, mine said wait 24 hours, I only waited 45 minutes because I was so excited to use them!
- Turn the shorts over and use the eraser and paint to create more polka dots
- Wait until they are dry
