A pudding made with eggs, coconut and sugar, with a magnificent flavor, which is also widely known as quindim. You’ve already tried it, haven’t you?

In bakeries and confectioneries, this yellow sweet is usually a big hit, but, as everything is best made at home, why not try making this dessert yourself? And, contrary to what we imagine, quindim is not that difficult to make.

In fact, as you will see below, in the list of recipes we prepared, there is quindim for all tastes. In addition to the quicker versions of the traditional yellow quindim, there are also some with innovations, such as coffee and cassava, for example.

The best of all is that, despite using a considerable amount of eggs – after all, it is an egg dessert! – quindim is not a very expensive recipe and, even with a delicate flavor, it is also not very sophisticated when preparing it. In short, everyone can do it without fear!

1. Coffee custard

What takes?

4 eggs

8 egg yolks

2 cups of sugar (tea)

1 package of coconut (100 g)

1 tablespoon margarine

1 bottle of coconut milk (200 ml)

1 tablespoon of instant coffee

How to make?

Heat the oven to 200 degrees. Meanwhile, beat the eggs and yolks in a blender until it no longer smells like eggs. Add the sugar, grated coconut, margarine, coconut milk and coffee and beat again until the mixture is homogeneous.

Place in a mold with a central hole, greased with margarine and sprinkled with sugar. Then, cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake the quindim in a bain-marie for 45 minutes, on average.

Then just remove the aluminum foil and let the dessert bake for another 20 minutes.

2. Cassava custard

What takes?

1 can of condensed milk

1 glass of coconut milk (200 ml)

6 eggs

1 tablespoon of butter

300 grams of grated cassava

3 tablespoons of sugar

1 package of grated coconut (100 g)

Granulated sugar for sprinkling

How to make?

Blend condensed milk, coconut milk, eggs, butter, cassava, sugar and grated coconut in a blender. Then, place the dough in a mold with a central hole, greased with butter and sprinkled with crystal sugar.

Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees, in a bain-marie, for 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the dessert. Once ready, just wait for it to cool and serve.

3. Vapt-vupt custard

What takes?

2 glasses of coconut milk

3 cups of sugar (tea)

120 grams of melted margarine

100 grams of grated coconut

16 egg yolks, sifted

How to make?

Mix all the ingredients, stirring with a wooden spoon. Then just grease the quindim molds (normally sold in household goods stores) with butter and sugar. Make sure there is little sugar left at the bottom.

Then just pour the mixture into the molds and bake at 200 degrees, for about 15 minutes.

As soon as you notice that it is getting darker, just remove it and it will be ready. Then just let the quindim cool, remove it from the mold and store it in the fridge until it cools down.

4. Easy Quindim

What takes?

1/2 teaspoon of butter

3/4 cup (tea) sugar

1 cup (tea) of Water

12 egg yolks, passed through a sieve and lightly beaten

2 cups fresh grated coconut

How to make?

Grease the pie molds with butter and sprinkle with crystal sugar and set aside.

Over high heat, melt the sugar in the water, stirring well. Let the mixture boil for 5 minutes or until you get a thick syrup. Then, add the butter, mixing well and remove from the heat to cool.

Then add the egg yolks and grated coconut to the syrup and mix well. Then put it in the kitchen and place it in the preheated oven, at a medium temperature (170 ºC to 190 ºC), and let it bake in a bain-marie for 30 minutes or until, when you insert a toothpick in the middle, it comes out dry.
