Whole-grain heart of palm pie recipe

Dough Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 glass of natural yogurt
  • 1/2 cup semi-skimmed milk
  • ½ cup corn oil
  • 4 tablespoons of grated cheese
  • 1 and ½ cup whole wheat flour (know the types of wheat flour)
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon of chemical yeast

Filling Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 strip of chopped pepper
  • 1 clove of minced garlic
  • 10 pitted olives, chopped
  • 1 pot of palm heart (520g)
  • 2 chopped tomatoes
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Green scent to taste
  • Mozzarella to taste

Preparation mode

  1. First, let’s make the pie filling. Then, in a pan, heat the oil to sauté the onion and chopped pepper.
  2. Then add the garlic and sauté for another minute.
  3. Therefore, add the olives, hearts of palm and chopped tomato.
  4. Season with salt and black pepper and cook until the tomatoes soften and release their liquid.
  5. Finally, add the green scent and turn off the heat.
  6. Set aside to fill the pie after it has cooled.
  7. Now, it’s time to prepare the dough. Then, in the blender add all the ingredients except the yeast.
  8. Beat everything very well until it forms a homogeneous mass.
  9. Then, turn off the blender, add the yeast and mix gently with a spatula.
  10. To assemble the pie, grease a large pan.
  11. Add the dough evenly to the bottom of the pan.
  12. Add the filling and cover with mozzarella to taste.
  13. Cover with the remaining dough.
  14. Finally, place the whole palm heart pie in the oven at 200ºC for around 40 minutes or until golden and baked completely.
