Watermelon Peel Jam

Sweet cakes and pies

This sweet is made with the white part of the watermelon rind, the one we throw away. It’s very tasty and reuse recipes are always welcome, right guys? So much good food goes to waste every day! We need to learn how to use food better.

For this sweet I used:

  • 4 cups (tea) chopped watermelon rind (without the green part);
  • 2 and 1/2 cups (tea) of sugar;
  • 3/4 cup (tea) of water;
  • 10 cloves;

Remove the green part of the skin and chop the rest into small cubes.

Bring the water, sugar and cloves to a boil. Once the sugar has melted, add the watermelon pieces. Keep on low heat, stirring occasionally until the watermelon pieces become transparent.

Once cold, store in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
