Understand the relationship between cell phones and male infertility!

Health

The habit of using your cell phone in your front pants pocket for men can negatively affect the quality of your sperm.

According to research carried out by the Israel Institute of Technology, Technion, men who have the habit of keeping their cell phone in front pocket may be affecting the quality of your sperm. The study in question showed that the proximity of around 30 to 60 centimeters of the cell phone to the body can increase the chances of infertility.

One thing is a fact, in recent years, in general, sperm quality has been decreasing considerably, consequently increasing cases of male infertility. And according to this study, one of the reasons may be this.

In fact, keeping your cell phone in your pants or shorts pocket is not the only way the device can lead to infertility. Excessive use of cell phones, as well as using them while charging and leaving them near the bed at night can increase the risk of male infertility.

Why keeping your cell phone in your front pocket can make men infertile?

For most men, putting their cell phone in their front pocket is a very common and, until now, apparently harmless habit. But maybe they should rethink that habit.

This is because, when you place your cell phone in the front pocket of your pants or shorts, the device is very close to the male genital organ. Thus, Both the heat and the radiation and electromagnetic frequency emitted by the device can negatively affect the quality and quantity of sperm produced by men. In other words, increasing the risk of infertility in men.

According to the study published in the journal Reproductive BioMedicine Online, when keeping the cell phone less than half a meter or less from the groin area, its electromagnetic activity can, in simpler terms, “cook” the sperm and kill them.

The study was carried out analyzing a total of 106 men who were undergoing infertility treatment. Thus, the results show that around 47% of men who keep their cell phones in their front pocket during the day have lower levels of healthy sperm. This is when compared to the rest of men who, in this case, do not use their cell phones in this way. Among those who do not use their cell phone so close to the genital region, only 11% had this problem.

However, despite the research results, there are those who dispute this hypothesis. One of these is the professor at the University of Sheffield, Alan Pacey, who does not believe that the electromagnetic activity of cell phones is related to the reduction in sperm quality. For the professor, it is not the simple habit of carrying a cell phone in your pocket that affects the production of male gametes.

How can excessive use of the device cause male infertility?

And this same study found that the problem goes beyond simply carrying your cell phone in your pocket. For the study, men who tend to use their cell phones a lot, even while charging and who leave the device next to the bed at night also show negative results.

The same goes for those who talk on the cell phone for more than an hour a day, which doubles the chances of having weaker and therefore less healthy sperm. Again, the causes of this are linked to the heat and radiation emitted by the devices.

Therefore, one of the researchers, Professor Gedis Grudzinskas recommends that men, especially those who plan to have children, start using their cell phones less. In addition to carrying the device in your shirt or coat pocket to maintain greater distance from the testicles.

Finally, as we know, the quality of men’s sperm has been decreasing significantly in recent years, especially in the West. And research like these shows that cell phones have a certain influence on this, and apparently it is a considerable influence.
