Tiradentes: a magical city in the interior of Minas

News

Bucolic city in inside Minas, Tiradentes managed to keep its characteristics from the time of inconfidence intact. Today, every step in the city has a special meaning.

From the alleys between the main streets, made so that black people could circulate without disturbing the white aristocracy, to the paving, made with stones without any regularity, which were affectionately nicknamed spinsters, every little part of the city is worth discovering.

O You Must Go was invited to a press trip in the city, which is an old acquaintance of mine, but which always enchants me in a different way. This time what surprised me most was the simple idea of a group of local businesspeople, who decided to come together with a single goal. Promote Tiradentes: its culture, cuisine, its charming people, its rich (very rich) history…

The group Tiradentes More Congratulations. After all, the city relies 100% on tourism and the fact that it has businesspeople coming together, instead of making individualistic decisions, is a sign that the city only stands to gain over time. Just like you and me, all tourists.

There are several inns, restaurants, craft stores and sweet shops that make the project possible. During the days I was there I was able to meet some people and meet others again!

I stayed at Bartholomew’s Landinga charming guesthouse with a beautiful, rustic and cozy decor. Every detail thought out by the elegant and friendly owner, Virgínia Bartolomeo. You should see the bathroom door, decorated with postcards of places she visited.

With 19 rooms – including suites and chalets – and a swimming pool overlooking the Serra de São José, breathtaking views, the inn enchants. But I warn you right away, with the production of cakes, breads (cheese bread too!) and cookies being made there, you don’t feel like leaving the breakfast table.

I was able to try some restaurants traditional, such as Father Toledo , the oldest in operation in the city. He won me over with his simple chicken with okra, angu and crackling – which came to the table crackling on the stone, served by Pelé, an illustrious employee, who has worked with the family for over 40 years.

I also passed through Pau de Angua place with a great vibe and amazing homemade sausage!

To liven up the night I was at Templar, a little bar with quality live music, good and plentiful snacks and beer cold! I went to Estalagem do Sabor, I tried a succulent rib and cassava that was worthy of a magazine cover. And the good laughs provided by the fun waiter, a great way to end the trip.

Don’t forget to check out the space Minas Gerais Brands , charming environment to relax, have a coffee and do a little shopping (no one is made of iron). Pass the Flower of Lfromthe a typical Minas Gerais sweet shop that leaves anyone lost.
