Opened just over three months ago, The Rebello is the newest boutique hotel in Vila Nova de Gaia, in the Portoin the North of Portugal, and on the banks of the Golden River. Built in 18th century warehouses, in buildings that were once pots and utensils factories, the hotel maintained the industrial architecture, but with modern and bold decor. With 103 rooms and studioso boutique hotel in Vila Nova de Gaia It has a bar, restaurant, a great rooftop and even a gym and full SPA. The Rebello is the third Portuguese project by the English group Bomporto Hotelswhich already has two properties in Lisbon, The Lumiares, in Bairro Alto, and The Vintage Hotel&Spa, on Avenida da Liberdade.

Location

Vila Nova de Gaia is part of the Porto metropolitan area, and is on the opposite bank of the Douro River. A great way to get to Porto from Lisbon is by train, a comfortable journey that lasts approximately three hours. Gaia, as it is popularly called, is a more modern city, with more recent buildings, large avenues and shopping malls.

Furthermore, it is also well known for its connection with the production and storage of Port wine. Therefore, The Rebello is well located on the riverfront, and walking distance of the port houses, bars and restaurants of Vila Nova de Gaia.

New boutique hotel in Vila Nova de Gaia

There were around five years of work on the set of buildings in the 19th century warehouses. In fact, the hotel takes its name from the wooden boats that transported precious barrels of local wine across the Douro River. Interior designer Daniela Francheschini maintained the industrial style of the place, creating palettes in walnut, steel and concrete.

There are 103 artistically decorated suites, studios and rooms, with floor-to-ceiling windows. The One Bedroom Duplex Suite, for example, has a fully equipped kitchen and a comfortable living room. The bedroom, queen size bed and bathroom with shower and Claus Porto amenities. Some accommodations, like mine, also have a balcony and a view of the river!

Bars and restaurants at The Rebello

Pot&Pan is the main restaurant at The Rebello, where it is served from breakfast to dinner. In it, chef André Coutinho gives a modern touch to traditional Portuguese food. The environment follows the same style as the other common areas of the hotel, with lots of black, exposed pipes and designer furniture. For those who want a quick meal and a drink, there is the contemporary Lobby Bar, in addition to the River Social Café & Store, deli with some artisanal products.

Certainly one of the highlights of this new hotel in Vila Nova de Gaia is the Bello Rooftop, which offers a privileged view of the Douro River! On the menu, options such as pizzas, salads, snacks and dishes to share. Meanwhile, to drink, there are signature and classic drinks, as well as a good wine list.

Furthermore, the new boutique hotel in Vila Nova de Gaia has a complete spa, including a semi-heated pool, sauna and various treatments. Furthermore, The Rebello also has kids club, two meeting rooms and a gym.
