This place was closed to cars in the early 2000s. Authorities recognize the importance of this location for commerce and tourism, and the discreet police presence is designed to ensure the safety of all visitors.

This place was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is known for its concentration of traditional events, but pressure from an economic point of view threatened its existence. All over the world, it is known for its incredible architecture and the fact that most of its buildings and structures are painted blue and all shades of blue.

Chefchaouen dates back to 1471, and the first Europeans only arrived in the city at the end of the 19th century. According to one version, the Jews who fled to Chefchaouen at the end of the 15th century – at the beginning of the 16th century, after persecution in Spain, began to paint their houses blue, and this tradition was consolidated in subsequent generations.
