The classic Le Relais de L’entrecôte is one of my favorite restaurants in Paris! It’s not sophisticated nor does it have a Michelin star, but it offers an unparalleled experience with just one dish on the menu. It’s the famous steak and fries with Paul de Saurs’ family secret sauce, certainly the best meat in Paris. There are several addresses spread across the city, but the original, since 1959, is Port Maillot, which I have been going to since I was a teenager, in fact. Therefore, this restaurant is certainly one of the best restaurants in Paris!

The story
Founded in 1959 by Marie-Paule Burrus and her father, Paul Gineste de Saurus, but under the name Le Relais de Venise, they decided that they would only serve one dish in the restaurant: steak frites, with a complex butter-based sauce. , which takes more than 21 ingredients and 36 hours of preparation. The formula includes a green salad with nuts and a dessert menu. The secret sauce comes straight from a central kitchen to all the restaurants and no one knows the recipe. However, there are rumors that the Parisian newspaper The world leaked the ingredients, although the London newspaper The Independent claim that the formula is inaccurate.

The best meat in Paris
Although the Port Maillot unit is the original, I also really like the one in Saint Germain, on Rue St Benoît. The tables are always very close together and the atmosphere is relaxed, like a French bistro! Therefore, once at Le Relais, the only questions the waitress asks you are: what is the doneness of the meat and what do you want to drink. Detail: Entrêcote does not accept reservations. It opens at noon for lunch and 7pm for dinner. The ideal is to arrive early to get a place in line. And the advantage is that since it’s just one dish, the tables turn quickly.

First, the fresh bread and the lettuce salad with walnuts. Then, the very well served filet mignon and a mountain of crispy potatoes, for €28. The waitress even serves us twice, meaning you will certainly leave very satisfied!

To accompany it I ordered a glass of Bordeaux (the wine list is great) and for dessert I went for one of the most popular dishes in the house, the profiteroles, with the best chocolate sauce you can imagine!

Furthermore, the classic Le Relais de L’entrecôte also has other addresses, such as Montparnasse and Rue Marbeuf. So, if you are in Paris, a visit to this program is a must! Certainly one of the best restaurants in Paris.
