Take a behind-the-scenes tour of CNN World Headquarters in Atlanta

North America

It may even look like a movie set: an immense globe, flags from several countries, the United States flag prominently displayed and several logos from the largest news network in the world spread out next to a large escalator. This is what the visitor finds at the world headquarters of CNN (CNN Center) em Atlantanos USA,

By 15 dollars (price for adults), the visitor takes a tour of the place where most of the station’s journalists work daily. It’s worth remembering that this price may be a little lower if you buy it in conjunction with another attraction in the city. I, for example, bought the ticket for the Inside CNN Studio Tour together with the World of Coca (Coca Cola museum)as I already said this postand I paid for both 27 dollarsI saved 4 dollars, since the Coke alone costs 16 dollars.

When purchasing your ticket, you can request a guide written in Portuguese, which is 6 pages of Word printed on A4 paper.

After passing through security in an airport-like X-ray, the visitor meets the guide and goes up an immense escalator, the largest in the world with 60 meters and eight floors. There, you can take a photo at a CNN bench. But only with authorized photographers. Then, be prepared to pay at least 15 dollars for the photo.

The first stop on the CNN Center tour, which lasts 55 minutes, is at a replica of the broadcaster control roomin which employees choose which images should be aired, ranging from the bench where the anchors (presenters) are, recorded stories and even live entries from reporters around the world.

The next stop is at studio 7E. There, the guide shows how the technology used in the transmission works and also the weather report. The visitor sees the Teleprompter (photo), a device that transmits the text that is read by the presenter, and also the Chroma Key, used as a backdrop for the map to appear in the journalist’s background during the weather forecast.

After that, the visitor arrives at the studio 7, the most modern from CNN, which can now broadcast 100% in high definition (HD). This studio is used for broadcasts that air from 9 am to 5 pm and also on weekends. Visitors are behind glass, but they can see how the studio works and can even get a good-bye from the anchors if they are on break. Photography is just not allowed to avoid disturbing the live broadcast.

A CNN headquarters newsroom is the next attraction on the tour. Also through glass and a view from above, the place is open every day of the week and 24 hours a day. Normally, 150 people work there.

Still on the tour, it is possible to see the CNN studios in Spanish. Finally, as expected, you will arrive at a store that sells everything from pens to mugs and glasses with the broadcaster’s logo.
