Base assembly

Start with the expanded clay, creating a layer that covers the entire bottom of the container. Afterwards, it’s coal’s turn. At first, it is preferable to use granulated charcoal, easily found on the market. If not available, you can use regular barbecue charcoal, broken into very small pieces.

Lay a thin layer of charcoal over the expanded clay layer. This way, the appearance of undesirable odors is avoided. Then cover the charcoal with a generous layer of moss. These three layers are what guarantee good drainage of the land.

Next, make the substrate layer for succulents. This layer should be significantly larger than the others, about three fingers wide. After all, it is where the succulents have settled.

Harmonization of the top

Afterwards, it’s time to accommodate your plants. Remember to choose species that do not require direct sunlight. In fact, many succulents are content with just natural light. However, some need sunlight and die without it.

Little by little, harmonize the composition with tall and short succulents. Different stones and sizes also help to create the look. For example, you can use some crystals too, to add a colorful touch.
