Strawberry Pie

Sweet cakes and pies

This tart is delicious! Just like the confectionery ones! I got the recipe from the Nestlé website but modified a few things. Simple to do, check it out:

Filling:

  • 1 can of condensed milk
  • 200ml of milk
  • 2 egg yolks, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Mix the condensed milk, milk, starch, egg yolks, vanilla essence in a pan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until you obtain a smooth and consistent cream (about 15 minutes). To avoid creating that “film” over the cream, cover with plastic wrap, placing the plastic over the cream. Let it cool (until it’s lukewarm) before placing it over the dough.



Massa:

  • 2 cups (tea) of wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 ovo
  • 100 g unsalted butter or margarine

*** 150ml measuring cup

Sift the flour with the sugar and salt. Add the egg and butter. Mix and work with your fingertips until you obtain a homogeneous dough. Open it and line the bottom and sides of a springform pan with a removable rim (22cm in diameter). Bake in a preheated medium-high oven (200°C), until slightly golden. Let cool.

Place the filling over the already baked dough. Cover with strawberry jam (recipe –> here), put some strawberries on the pie. Place in the fridge for about 2 hours.

***Important:

This dough is delicious, but a little tough, so roll it out with a rolling pin as thin as you can. I made it a little thick because I thought it might be crumbly, but it isn’t.
