I went there for the second time this year and stayed at the St. Regis, a luxury hotel in Washington DC. In an imposing building from 1926 and the two blocks from the White House, it catches attention right away. Sophisticated, it has wonderful service, a great restaurant, comfortable rooms and an excellent location. Furthermore, St. Regis is Marriott’s luxury brand. So always a hit!

History
Built in the style of a Florentine palace, the St. Regis, a luxury hotel in Washington DC, became a replacement location for the US State Department in the 1930s. The Carlton hotel operated in the historic building. Until, it underwent a US$16 million renovation and in 1999, it became the St. Regis Washington, DC.
Many presidents and celebrities have stayed there, such as Audrey Hepburn and Cher.

Location
It is surrounded by great restaurants and trendy bars. (In fact, the famous PJ Clarke’s is right across the street). The hotel is on the same street as the White House and 2.5 km from the city’s most important monuments. In a 2 minute walk, for example, you can also reach the main department stores in DC, such as Saks, Macy’s and Nordstrom, on Pennsylvania Av.

O lobby
Upon entering the luxury hotel in DC, we already feel the classic style in the decor. High ceilings, elegant red armchairs and large lamps make up the sophisticated environment. Therefore, a cozy space to have a drink, chat or work before heading out. Still on the ground floor, there is the Alhambra bar and restaurant.

Both the concierge and reception are in private areas, with space for guests to sit. Certainly, this makes the check in be done in a more discreet and therefore more comfortable way.
The rooms
The St. Regis, a luxury hotel in Washington DC, has 172 rooms divided into seven categories, as well as five suites. They all have a bed king size, desk and also sofa. The minibar is stuffed and the beautiful, large windows they bring a lot of light to the environment. The decor is classic in style, certainly matching the rest of the hotel.

Finally, the luxury hotel in DC offers an excellent à la carte breakfast, not included in the daily price as is customary in the USA. The Benedictine eggs were more than approved and also the cappuccino, certainly the best I’ve tasted during my stay.

O concierge
Anyone who stays in a luxury hotel expects sublime service and the St. Regis Washington, DC is no different. The staff are all very friendly and efficient. Highlight is the team of concierges, who are extremely attentive and very well informed. After all, there is nothing more frustrating when we don’t find answers to our questions when we travel. I’m one of those people who pesters the concierge looking for up-to-date and relevant tips.
