Illnesses

Special salt for hypertensive patients, also known as Bio Salgante, is a type of salt that does not contain sodium, in addition to being rich in potassium and, therefore, helps control blood pressure and prevents fluid retention and swelling.

This type of salt is found in pharmacies and health food stores, in individual jars or sachets, and can be used to replace table salt to season stews, breads, soups and salads, for example.

Although it is a healthy option, salt for hypertensive patients should only be used under the guidance of a doctor. This is because situations such as the use of some medications or kidney failure can increase potassium levels in the body. See other causes of high potassium.
