On a recent trip, I made a foray into new restaurants in São Paulo and I went back to some that I already knew and loved. Are they:
– Delicacy – restaurant with a delicatessen vibe, whose owner is an American who decided to bring those delicious sandwiches that we always see in NY but that here in Brazil are not so common. I tried a delicious pumpkin soup, and enjoyed a tasting of the sandwiches, Richard’s own creations: cured salmon with yogurt sauce and cucumber salad, roast beef with red onion jelly and gruyere, chicken with roasted vegetables with tomato confit and zucchini… Anyway, really delicious and not very common mixtures.
The restaurant also offers breakfast at any time and has a popular brunch on the weekends. The yogurt is made right there and the scrambled egg with homemade bacon (which can also be served with salmon) was divine! Brownies are another house specialty. All this in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
– Veridiana – you can’t go to SP and not eat pizza. The chosen one this time was an already established pizzeria that has just opened a branch in Perdizes. Located in an imposing mansion that has been completely renovated, the three ovens covered in exposed brick draw attention, as does the pizza maker’s juggling act. Rustic decor, beautiful landscaping, a large room and a piano in the background give the place a unique touch. On the menu, a variety of flavors. I ordered a burrata starter, it was super soft and I loved it. Naples in calabresa and ricotta, with slices of handmade Calabrian sausage and fresh tomato sauce and Napoli in Beirut, prepared with goat cheese and zatar.
– Via Emilia – a new proposal for Italian cuisine where the flagship is piadina, bread from the ancient region, similar to the pita bread that in Roman times was the only food. Chef Laís was inspired by the region that gives the restaurant its name. On the menu, there are several types of piadinas, with a series of different fillings. But there are also salads and pastas. Highlight for the beautiful architectural design, with a nice winter garden and several scooters that have become the symbol of the restaurant, cute! The restaurant is located on Rua Pinheiros, which has become a new gastronomic hub in Sampa.
– The Bagatelle – Present in NY, Los Angeles and Miami, this friendly bistro in Jardins really takes us to another country and makes us forget the hustle and bustle of SP. French menu with various delicacies, variety of drinks and a very friendly balcony. At nightfall, a São Paulo nightclub atmosphere.
– Beautiful Sintra – classic of Portuguese cuisine and from the same owners of Antiquárius, the right address for those who want to eat well. Attentive service, abundant wine cellar and international dishes. Cozy atmosphere in a noble address, on the street of the same name in Jardins.
– Rubaiyat – a restaurant that recently opened in Rio, Figueira Rubaiyat, is a classic in SP and was named in honor of its century-old tree. Super spacious and with a lovely balcony, meat or fish are always excellent. The traditional cover is delicious, with its special cheese bread. Also noteworthy is the dessert table that will drive any sweet fanatic crazy.
– Then – considered one of the best restaurants in SP, it is also one of my favorites and I had to stop by. With its unmistakable fried zucchini as a starter, and its warm breads, always fresh pasta and delicious desserts, in addition to the elegant and tasteful atmosphere. I went for the caprese salad for starters and spaghetti with seafood, simply divine! And finally, profiteroles, my favorite!
