Hey Jocélia, it’s ready now! I know it’s been about 2 weeks since you wrote to me but I didn’t have any leeks at home to write a more detailed post, so now here goes:

It’s not a big deal, just wash it properly and make 2 cuts: one at the base close to the roots and another close to the leaves. The roots go in the trash, the leaves can be used to flavor broths and soups and the white part is what is used in most dishes, usually cut into rings, like this:
