Orange Cake with Chocolate – Panelaterapia

Orange Cake with Chocolate

Sweet cakes and pies

I invented this recipe to solve that old problem of making large cakes in a house of 2 people. So this recipe is for a very small cake. My shape is 18 cm in diameter.

It’s not the fluffiest, it has a more compact texture, I may still need to make some adjustments to the proportions, but the result was pretty cool considering how easy it was to prepare.

I started by preparing the orange dough. I gathered in a bowl:

  • 50 ml of orange juice (juice from a very juicy orange);
  • 2 tablespoons of oil;
  • 1 ovo;
  • 6 tablespoons of wheat flour;
  • 6 tablespoons of sugar;
  • 1/2 tablespoon of baking powder.

I beat everything by hand, using a wire whisk. I put it in the mold and went to prepare the chocolate dough.

In the same bowl I added:

  • 50 ml of milk;
  • 2 tablespoons of oil;
  • 1 ovo;
  • 6 tablespoons of wheat flour;
  • 6 tablespoons of sugar;
  • 2 tablespoons of chocolate powder (I use Dois Frades, from Nestlé).
  • 1/2 tablespoon of baking powder.

Mix well (also with a wire whisk) and place on top of the orange dough. Place carefully if you want the layers to be separate, but you can also make a mixed cake. I sprinkled some walnuts on top, but it’s totally optional, okay?

I baked it in a preheated oven at 180º for about 30 minutes, but this time may vary more or less depending on the brand of oven. After 20 minutes, keep an eye on it.

Note: I only placed a disc of baking paper at the bottom of the pan, which had a removable rim. If you make it in a normal aluminum pan, I suggest greasing and flouring it.
