Candidiasis is one of the most common intimate problems among women, yet it is treatable and there are creams and ointments for the problem.
You may not know, but there are already several types of ointments for candidiasis. But firstly, do you know what this disease is about? Basically it is an infection, caused by fungi of the genus Candida.
Although they can be caused by transmission or contagion, most of the time it starts with the fungi that inhabit our bodies.
Furthermore, ointments and creams for the problem contain antifungal substances such as clotrimazole, isoconazole or miconazole. They are also known commercially as Canesten, Icaden or Crevagin.
Firstly, they relieve itching in the intimate area, as well as eliminating fungi. Finally, they bring back the balance of microorganisms that normally inhabit the region.
Ointments for candidiasis for women
Firstly, ointments for candidiasis must be applied both internally and externally. Therefore, the packaging of this product comes with a special applicator for applying the medicine.
However, remember that this product should only be used under medical advice. See the usage step:
- Firstly, you must wash and dry your hands and intimate area well;
- Open the ointment packaging, attach the applicator, place the contents of the tube into the applicator until it is full. Once full, disconnect the applicator from the tube;
- While lying down with your legs bent, or sitting with your legs wide open, insert the applicator full of ointment into the vagina, as deep as possible, and remove the applicator while the ointment is being released into the vagina.
- Also apply to the external region, especially the vaginal lips.
Candidiasis ointments for men
Despite having the same components as the ointment for women, men do not need to use the applicator. Furthermore, it should also only be used under the advice of a urologist.
- First wash and dry your hands and intimate area;
- Apply about half a centimeter of ointment to the penis, passing the product over the entire region, leaving it to act for about 4 to 6 hours and then repeating the entire procedure.
- In case of chronic candidiasis, the use of candidiasis ointments may not be effective. Treatment should consist of strengthening the immune system and adopting a diet low in carbohydrates and sugars.
Home remedy for candidiasis
There is also a home remedy for the problem. It consists of introducing natural yogurt into the vagina, leaving it to act for about 3 hours, changing it several times a day. Yogurt helps balance vaginal pH and also contains beneficial bacteria that help maintain a balanced vaginal flora.
Most used ointment brands
- Ketoconazole: there are options such as Medley Cream and Ketonax;
- Ciclopirox: among the options sold are the nail polish Fungirox and the topical solution Loprox;
- Econazole: found in solutions or lotions, such as Micostyl;
- Miconazole: such as the Vodol powder version, Daktarin gel and Gino Mizonol vaginal cream;
- Nystatin: found in mouthwash versions (oral suspension) Canditrat and Nistrazin vaginal cream;
- Clotrimazole: cream options include Baycuten and Canesten, in addition to the Gino-Canesten vaginal cream;
- Terbinafine: there are products such as Lamisilate in spray or cream solution;
- Terconazole: vaginal creams such as Gyno Fungix and Ginconazole.
