The Multishow Award begins this Wednesday (8) and several controversies about the subject are already circulating on the internet.
This Wednesday (8), the 21st edition of the Multishow Awards takes place, directly from the Globo group channel. The event, which is highly anticipated by fans of national hits, this time, they are following the gossip much earlier than usual.
One of the main reasons is an unexpected cancellation: Ludmilla canceled her gala night performance. In this sense, the singer says she feels unfair for not being in the “Singer of the Year” category, while other artists who did not produce as frequently or successfully received nominations.
In any case, all the confusion in the category did not turn into a discussion. After all, during that year, the “Singer of the Year” award became a tribute to Marília Mendonça, who passed away in November after a plane crash. Even so, Ludmilla was one of the first to officially speak out.
Soon after, the pressure reached other artists, such as Duda Beat, Jão, Joelma and Pabllo Vittar. All the singers are outside the categories they are supposed to represent. However, Ludmilla still competed for “Clip of the Year” and “Hit of the Year”.

In this way, the situation ended up becoming even more complicated, which meant that even the event’s jury was involved. In an attempt to overcome the problem, the Prize organization spoke out. They promise more “diversity and consideration” for Brazilian artists in future editions.
In 2021, however, the “Singer of the Year” category had more changes than imagined. In addition to the tribute to Marília Mendonça, the members of the Multishow Awards academy who decide the nominees have now increased.
Furthermore, the Multishow channel also created a council with several professionals to better understand different artistic movements. The idea of events of this type, after all, is to bring more and more diversity to the screens. It is understood that, in this way, it is important to evolve.
Finally, the Multishow Awards organization also released a note about the 2021 awards. In it, they begin: “We know that today’s world is still far from ideal representation and we will continue working on whatever is necessary to evolve. We are aware that the fight for diversity must be daily and we understand that we need to be even more committed to the cause. So, together, we set out to create an even more diverse Collective, to add to the work we have been doing, contributing to future editions.”
On the other hand, the repercussion of the announcement was extremely negative. In this sense, many fans attacked the decisions of those responsible, considering a lack of respect, racism, prejudice and even homophobia as the lack of space for important voices. The idols that many love, after all, didn’t even receive nominations for an award that would have everything to do with them.
