News

The 2021 Multishow Awards were marked by performances by big names in music, as well as important tributes.

The ceremony, which was under the command of Tatá Werneck and IZA, is responsible for revealing winners of popular and specialized vote categories. However, the presentations of several artists that fans are waiting for, for example, of big names in Brazilian music, were set in different places than just the stage. Since 2016, Multishow has mixed the real with the virtual during the awards ceremony, and this time, it was no different.

Tatiana Costa, the director of Multishow, highlights this important detail: “The 28th edition is one of the most incredible and grandiose. We created a world with augmented reality, which features a futuristic city, as well as real islands and continents. We are using the latest technology to transport the public to a new experience.”

On the other hand, IZA, one of the presenters of the 2021 Multishow Awards, also gave two performances, and celebrated the fact of having participated so actively. “It’s always really incredible to be part of this and, this year, again alongside Tata, who is an artist that I admire so much,” she began. Soon after, “Besides, it’s priceless to be able to mix performing with what I like to do most, which is singing.”

The IZA duo, Tatá Werneck, comments on their own relationship with the event: “The Multishow Award is great. You see yourself there with people you’re a fan of, with artists you follow. This year, especially, we have to celebrate life”, she pointed out, in reference to the pandemic. “The Award awakens in us adrenaline, emotion, nervousness, fear, a mix of feelings. But when it ends, we always think that we want to come back next year, that we want to be there again in the next edition.”

This year, fans were able to enjoy incredible shows by several famous artists from the current Brazilian music scene. In this sense, Ivete Sangalo, who is the artist with the most awards awarded in the history of the 2021 Multishow Awards, sang with Carlinhos Brown. Likewise, Duda Beat still took the stage; and Luísa Sonza gave her first performance of “ANACONDA” on TV. The awards ceremony also had a lot of samba with the medley of Ferrugem, Xande de Pilares, the group Menos é Mais and Márvvila. The forró was done by the Barões da Pisadinha.

Multishow Award 2021

The 2021 Multishow Awards were also full of tributes in the edition. Thus, after two major losses in the artistic world, with the deaths of Paulo Gustavo and Marília Mendonça, the award celebrated both names. Paulo Gustavo was celebrated through a duet by IZA and Mariah Nala. The comedian, who was a fan of the artists, had been godfather to both of them at the beginning of their careers. Thus, IZA comments: “It is very special to be able to pay homage to someone I love so much and who was part of my career in such an important way”

On the other hand, Marília Mendonça received the “Singer of the Year 2021” award in her honor. The other 4 competitors, Anitta, Luísa Sonza, IZA and Ivete Sangalo, in a gesture of respect, joined the fans and the channel to celebrate the eternal “Queen of Suffering”. Thus, the votes were suspended, and Marília received the honors.
