On our third – and last day – strolling through the Mendoza wineries, the sun appears and we get to know the Séptima and Ruca Malén wineries, in addition to drinking non-awarded Saffron. Let’s see how it was!

As we said in our last post, we are staying at the very best Park Hyatt Mendoza. The man’s coffee was paid in part and the price of the refeição was not exactly encouraging – because we wanted to take advantage of the Center of Mendoza, so we decided to tan a beautiful breakfast the famous 14 Café&Restó Chair. A perfect indication of the hotel concierge.
The owner of the premises was architect and landscape designer Julieta Soldini, passionate about coffee culture, who was frustrated by having to leave Mendoza to drink a perfect coffee. It was up to Buenos Aires to research the best coffees in the city and decided to specialize in the matter. The place is also there: it has its own cafeteria, restaurant and also produces Belgian chocolate that is served. A curiosity: 80% of the café’s public are tourists. It was optimal to start the day, but as we hit the place opening the doors, the service was quite delayed and a bit confusing, but it should certainly be 100% from a certain time.

Our motorist was looking for a hotel to start our day of visiting the wineries: first it was Septima, but a super contemporary winery and a killer visual for the Andes! The architectural project of the local and incredible winery is part of the Spanish group Codorníu, made with rigor as it produces its wines and sparkling wines.
Let’s visit the winery and, next, taste: approved sparkling wines and wines, highlighting the María Codorníu sparkling wine! We also adore Malbec da safra 2014! The best thing is that the day was beautiful and we managed to tan very much at the sight that the winery offered. 🙂

Ruca Malen
On this day and in this climate, a visit to the Ruca Malén winery was no longer for profit – but it still managed to exceed all our expectations! Let’s go and go straight to our lunch, having chosen the six-step menu, where the tasting accompanies the dishes that are harmonized with seven different spectacular wines. An experience of palate, flavor and originality – we attribute this simply to the best mix of gastronomy and wines that we have in the wineries of Mendoza! And directly I tied the chef’s hand explaining two dishes! Memorável!
The dishes are prepared with local products, and some of their own horta. Impeccable service and presentation of very creative cards to taste. It’s worth knowing. On the other hand, we admire Cordilheira dos Andes – magnificent – and the dining room has an all-glass room with a view for the couples. We would spend the day all day, calmly. 🙂

We had already made two visits and tastings in wineries but, likewise, we decided to take a visit to the Melipal winery, which was already dated – on Saturdays, the date is at 3pm. It was only a pass to confer the architectural project, so strange… But the landscaping of the premises pleased everyone! Falam muito bem do harmonized almoço served lá, vai ficar for next time! 🙂

Saffron
To crown a perfect trip, a non-awarded Saffron jantar! We loved the restaurant with its gastronomy – we ordered the six dishes from the tasting menu and found the place super charming and beautifully decorated. The Saffron also has an incredible variety of wines (more than 400 labels in the store) with one sommelier available to help in the wine selection. We opted to harmonize our menu, which was spectacular, but the wines suggested and served did not impress us. It would have been better to choose some good wine to accompany all the dishes. Despite this, everything was very busy, so after dinner it took about 1 hour to eat and the garçom informed us, at the time of serving, that it was normal due to the big movement at home at that moment. Além disso, this same garçom was very indelicate to the fare very high for all at our table that we had to pay with tip (gorgeta) of 10%, being that this was not the father and was not being paid to another functionary of the house. No fim, these ‘minaram’ facts are a bit of an experience. Such a shame…
But, I emphasize: gastronomically, Saffron serves excellent, beautiful and delicious dishes! And one detail: you have to reserve, at least, to reserve – just now that it can be done at the restaurant’s location.
