EI was recently in the American capital to learn about the Marriott hotels in Washington DC. That’s where the brand’s headquarters are located. A Marriott called a group of journalists to visit some of the city’s establishments.
We stayed at the hotel Renaissance, chain boutique hotel, super central. We made a post here and we loved it.
We also visited the JW Marriott D.C., (first of the brand in the city). We had a super cocktail in the Presidential Suite this luxury hotel. It is constantly attended by presidents, not only Americans, but also those of other countries.
Located on the famous Pennsylvania Avenue, the hotel has very reasonable rates, taking into account its high standard (currently on the website at US$189). The JW Marriott is close to tourist attractions, such as the White House, the National Mall and the Newseum (journalism museum). It has the Avenue Grill restaurant, where we were able to try some very tasty snacks. Highlights include the oysters and delicious crab cake, typical of the Maryland region.
There are more than 700 rooms, all decorated in a contemporary style, spread over 15 floors and with a beautiful view of the city. A super hotel, the JW Marriott D.C.
The next day, we visited the head quarter and Marriottwhere they have the so-called innovation lab, It is there that they think about the size, functionality and style of the rooms, according to each brand in the chain. It was very interesting to see how the characteristics vary, according to the style of each country. We saw several prototype rooms, very different from each other. It takes a lot of research to create the perfect room, which can take up to a year.
It was clear that the chain is very concerned with the comfort and satisfaction of its guests and that they are always trying to renew themselves and stay up to date, An example is the service of mobile check in – that is, being able to check in through the app and without having to go to reception. Ingenious idea that saves the traveler time, something precious.

From Maryland, we headed to Arlington, Virginia, a neighboring state, where we visited the Residence Inn Ballston, a new hotel that opened just over a year ago. The brand Residence Inn It is dedicated to those who want to have a long stay, generally those who are moving to that city, the so-called ex patriates. Or someone who has a job that will last a month, for example. In other words, the longer the guest stays, the cheaper the daily rate. In English, it is said extend day property.
And the Residence Inn Ballston is very well equipped for that. They are mini apartments, very well equipped, with everything the “resident” needs, as well as common areas with garden, gym, swimming pool, laundry, etc. Everything included in the daily rate.
From there, we went to the Courtyard Washington DC, back to the city, where we took a little tour. It is also a new hotel, with 149 rooms, ideal for guests who do not want to spend a lot. Daily rates start at U$139.
We also visited the Marriott Georgetown, more sophisticated, in the most charming neighborhood in the region and with a very vibrant and contemporary lobby. We were welcomed with a nice cocktail party, where we tried local drinks and snacks. The Atrium restaurant is known for making very quick dishes, inspired by business travelers, always in a hurry.
And finally, the icing on the cake, the extremely elegant Ritz Carlton, also located in the historic neighborhood of Georgetown, in a building from the 1930s. Completely renovated, with 86 rooms, it is George Clooney and Bradley Cooper’s favorite hotel when they are in the city.
The lobby looks like the home of someone we know, with modern and extremely tasteful decor. We visited the sensational royal suite, measuring 300 m2, which costs just US$16.00 per night and we had a super chic dinner at the Fahrenheit restaurant, which was perfect to end our stay. With a very well decorated table and representatives of luxury brand, It was a more than pleasant night.
To score Marriott is present in 78 countries and in total there are more than 4 thousand hotels around the world. With so many hotels available, it makes you want to travel again, doesn’t it?
