Mandarin Oriental: one of the best hotels in Boston

News

The Mandarin Oriental is without a doubt one of the best hotels in Boston. Very well located in Back Bay, it allows guests to do a lot on foot. The rooms are spacious, the decor is tasteful and the restaurant is of excellent quality. To top it off, the impeccable service, worthy of the Asian brand. Furthermore, Boston is a city neighboring NYC that should be known.

How to go to Boston

It is about 350 kilometers between NYC and Boston. The best way to travel is by train. Amtrak offers the route with prices starting at US$49, each way, lasting around three to five hours, with the advantage of boarding at central stations, which are easily accessible.

Of course, you can also drive, if you prefer. Or by plane, which was my case, as I was coming from Washington DC. See more of Boston in our YouTube video! Enjoy and subscribe to the channel:

One of the best hotels in Boston

I’ve been wanting to visit the Mandarin Oriental Boston for a while now. As a fan of the brand, I’ve stayed at MO hotels in Miami, New York, Las Vegas, and Washington. In other words, in the USA, all that was missing was him and the one in Atlanta. And as I only had positive experiences, I was very curious to visit Boston.

And my expectations were exceeded. The MO, one of Boston’s best hotels, is a charming, elegant and sophisticated property and is located on one of the city’s most interesting streets, Boylston Street. Opened in 2008, it still maintains the freshness of a contemporary hotel.

Location

The Back Bay region is just charming. There are several tree-lined streets where Victorian architecture predominates. The area is considered one of the best preserved in the world. USA.

Boylston Street, a prime address, is one of Boston’s pulsating veins. The hotel is next to the Prudential Center luxury complex and even has a direct entrance to it. In addition to a series of good shops and restaurants, this is where the Skywalk Observatory is located, 50th floor, from which you have sensational 360º views of the city.

There is also a museum and trendy Top of the Hub restaurant, with views and live music. Just off Boylston, but close by, is Copley Place, which has powerful brand showcases on the first floor.

From MO Boston, you can walk to the Boston Public Garden, which is close to Arlington or Boylston Station and has beautiful gardens. Just like Boston Commons, the oldest public park in the United States, dating back to 1634.

Boston’s historic neighborhoods

Walking a little further, we reach the historic neighborhoods of Boston, with their narrow and charming streets, like Beacon Hill, with one house cuter than the other.

The street parallel to Boylston is a must-see, with more exclusive shops and typical New England architecture. Very charming and lively, Newbury Street has low red brick buildings, surrounded by plants and flowers. A charm! It makes you want to do a little shopping, sit down to have a coffee or a drink and let the hour pass without noticing.

Look, I only mentioned some of the attractions, as there are countless ones surrounding the MO, one of the best hotels in Boston.

O Hotel

The service is super attentive, as always at Mandarin Oriental hotels. The staff, polite and smiling, always ready to help. The team of concierges with suggestions at the tip of your tongue and relevant guidance for those who are passing through and want to properly explore the city. Highlight is the Mercedes with driver available to guests. My companion Juliana, from Fala de Viagem, and I took a nice ride to lunch on one of the days of our stay.

O Lobby

The lobby has high ceilings, is very spacious, with several areas that invite us to sit for a while, drink a coffee or simply chat and pass the time. The reception is right in front and everyone is always very attentive.

I liked the colors present and the flower arrangements, which were very tasteful. It is also possible to have light meals there. Even now in the summer, a Ceviche Bar was created Pop Up (temporary), I thought it was great!

The rooms

The 136 rooms are cozy, with discreet lines and colors, and different from each other. Beautiful paintings of modern art and art deco complete the warm atmosphere. A round of applause for the simply perfect sound insulation for sleeping, as well as the black out which darkens the room 100%!

My room was a spectacle! Right at the entrance, a hall, with a piece of furniture where the stuffed minibar and an Illy coffee machine were located. I simply LOVE being able to have an espresso when I wake up, without having to leave my room.

To bed king size it was super comfortable and the contemporary decor had shades of green and gray in the fabrics. Discreet and elegant. The work table in front of the bed was great and complete, with everything someone who had to work in the room would need.

Facing the bed, the plasma TV on top of the dresser, full of drawers. In fact, a characteristic of rooms at Mandarin Oriental hotels is having many closets and this one was no exception. In fact, for the first time, one in a hotel fit my Rimowa suitcase, which opens to the sides. I loved! Very functional!

The restaurant

The Mandarin Oriental chain takes gastronomy very seriously and the restaurants never disappoint. In one of the best hotels in Boston it couldn’t be any different. That’s where Bar Boulud is located, by chef Daniel Boulud, one of the most internationally renowned, based in New York.

Impeccable dinner!

Bar Boulud is always a more relaxed but no less interesting version of chef Daniel, in terms of gastronomy. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and is on the ground floor, with a street entrance separate from the hotel. During the summer (when I was there) the tables move out onto the sidewalk and it’s buzzing during happy hour.

The bistro’s menu features French and American dishes and some typical New England dishes. Oysters are a classic and can be ordered in the grand plateau de fruits de mer (large seafood dish), as well as the cold cuts, fresh and varied. The wine list is excellent, with an emphasis on the Bourgogne region.

The spa

The spa at one of the best hotels in Boston is, of course, wonderful! I had the chance to undergo a treatment that was not only relaxing, but also very conducive to me, as it was a technology detox, haha. It looks like they were guessing. I had to fill out a form that asked how long I keep my cell phone near me during the day and at night and so on. Of course my answers were terrible! And after the massage, it’s not like I started leaving my cell phone away from me while I sleep. I find it much healthier!

The spa has several private rooms with their own showers, Quartz crystal saunas and a beautiful vitality pool, in addition to having one of the largest hotel gyms in the city. I loved! No wonder, it is the only one in the city classified as AAA Five Diamond by Forbes.
